In short: A good event for beginners
In full: This was the first 'big' event I'd done after a completing about a dozen half marathons. I was really looking forward to it. My expectations were probably too high. It seemed to be designed for charity runners since many participants seemed to walk most of it. I jogged it with my girlfriend who's seven months pregnant and we were still frustrated by our inability to pass people. It looks like I'm more suited to smaller events.

In short: 1st GNR
In full: Good race and I was amazed by all the support that is on the course. People paying out of their own pocket for water, oranges, ice pops, jelly babbies etc..........

The bands were great aswell. Was wondering when the coast was finally coming into sight.

No chance of PB tho far too many people!

Great Atmosphere, Amazing Organisation.

Great Race!

In short: And another one in the bag
In full: Another wonderful day in the great north. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite the east coast only putting on one train, which was an hour late. Still, at least I got to follow the England game on my phone.

Usual start - lots of people all wanting clear tarmac, but got myself free in no time and I was off. Met up with the 1:30 pacer a few times and man, his pacing was all over the place - 7'45/mi one mile, 6'30/mi the next - what was that all about? Messed my pacing up a little, but hey, I know better (run my own race and not rely on another to dictate theirs, duh). Nice of the organisers to sort out a brief shower at the end also - cooled me down in the last half mile somewhat.

Chip/text/watch times all slightly different, but a new course PB for me on little run training so I'm grabbing that with both hands. I'll never get a HM PB on this course, so it's all good. Oh, and I met Eric Pollard. Good times.

Told all the marshalls I'll see them next year, and I will.

In short: Very special race, but challenging course!
In full: Disappointed with my time but after an enforced 3.5 week break in my training I'm glad to have got round. The crowds are phenomenal and the atmosphere is special. Challenging course but I would advise anyone to have a go. Can't wait to have another crack next year!

In short: I enjoyed the experience, this was my first half marathon. So a good PB I suppose.
