In short: Very scenic and sunny but please can we have a goody bag? In full: I really enjoyed this event, the route was lovely, very pretty and provided a fantastic amount of shade on such a hot day. The start, finish, bag storage and water stations were well organised and the marshalls were excellent. The swimming pool was the best thing ever after a half and the showers and changing were much better than many others I have experienced. Great facilities. I echo what many others have said in that I would have loved a bottle of water and a mars bar at the finish - not too much to ask for surely?! Date of review: August 24, 2009

In short: Eric Carmen: Take me over the edge, make me lose control... In full: Woof-woof, bow-wow-wow... went a few of the lines at the Finnish as finishers & spectators laid back and watched others stumble under the clock. With only a pretty medal for my trouble I wasn't in the least bit disappointed by the absence of a goody bag, as I took in the smooth cleavage of a tasty, non-Asian bird sunning herself on an grassy bank. Like most things running's such a simple thing accessible to all, but this course wasn't so simple, embracing several moderate but lengthy climbs. The scenery was fantastic and green, the marshals more than making up for the lack of spectators along most of the wooded course. There was certainly a lot of shading cuddling around tight country lanes pony-tailed blondes and brunettes, but we all had to share ourselves with several vehicles en route; thankfully these were slow, having to make do with snaking in and out of multiple groups of runners. Incredibly the results were posted up as they came, on the back of a large hut with several looking to see their chip and gun times. If there's one thing that could do with a change is the possible inclusion of a chocolate bar; a lot of runners - myself included - seemed to be craving for something very sugary on their tongue and lips. That said there were several babes indoors selling yummy cakes and shortbread. Getting to the start wsn't too trcky especially with a 10AM bang. However, if you're planning to use public transport and walk I'd suggest you avoid the following roads: Stoke Poges Lane, Church Lane, and Park Road. These were very tranquil and scenic, but you'll have to give yourself an hour or so on foot; plus along most of these lanes pavement had been surrendered to the carriageway, necessitating walking on the right and making several rather hairy approaches to blind bends. Further to this dense wood/hedges would invariably push out on the road margins. But overall a great day with beautifully laid out bumps. Date of review: August 24, 2009

In short: A lovely way to spend a sunny August Sunday In full: My first run at Burnham Beeches and a really enjoyable experience. Yes it was hot, yes it was hilly in places, and may be an isotonic drink at the stations would have been nice. But overall a very enjoyable experience: beautiful surroundings, a nice two lap course (good for spectators), good after-race picnic potential and a nice swim at the end of the race! In short: beautiful surroundings and lovely shaded areas. Only complaint in the heat more water stops were needed, I'm sure last year there were sponges, really missed this time and no food at the end! Date of review: August 24, 2009

In short: I really enjoyed it, the highlight had to be the swimming pool! In full: Really good marshalls, a bit of a long walk to the start especially with young family members! The pool was fantastic and I'd do the race again just for the relaxing atmosphere afterwards! Date of review: August 24, 2009

In full: A great race as usual. If I was critical the car park is too far away from the start/finish and for the price of the race a goody bag or something other then the medal would have been better. Still great organisation from the usual team and I will be back to support the event as usual next year. Date of review: August 24, 2009

In short: Great race - lose the plastic cups In full: Great race. Friendly. Very well organised. Scenic. Hot. Killer last few miles. Only suggestion for improvements: lose those awful plastic cups - small bottles are what you need mars bar at end Sure everyone would pay £1 extra for that! Date of review: August 24, 2009
