In short: Luton Rocks
In full: Ok so the weather was rubbish but this was well organised with fantastic marshalls and friendly runners. I actually liked the 3 laps it meant I didn't have to carry anything being able to pick things up from my suporters on each lap. I met really inspirational runners including Mick & Phil and several members of the 100 marathon club.

Luton was my sixth marathon. Previously I have done London, New York, Paris, Blackpool and Dublin and I can honestly say Luton is one of my favourites.

In short: Wind , rain and only two laps
In full: Up until sundays run I have been very lucky in all my races and the weather has alway been nice, running into horizontal rain definetly was n't. That said I will probally be back next year to complete the extra lap.
The course is quite nice with a bit of a hill at the start of lap 2/3 but it is the wind that gets you ,as you turn back towards the start suddenly you seem to stop moving.
Due to problems with transport I ended up starting off late and ran the first lap alone
which was very lonely, it also taught me that I need to pay alot more attention to my pace as I was too interested in trying to catch up that I burnt out at 16 miles and had to jog to the end of lap 2.
To sum up the weather was aweful, the marshalls were amazing and thank god that you can drop out after 2 laps.

In short: A decent marathon but the three laps won't suit many runners
In full: Worth turning up for and the course does have definite pb potential but the weather was savage and ruined all my hope of a decent time. The organisers should consider extending the length of the laps so we don't have to run three laps, which is far too many

In short: Foul weather, great marshalls, superb running companions!
In full: Did the third leg of the relay and boy, was it tough! But at least the rain held off. Great organisation, lovely to have the hall to sit in while team members were braving the elements. Thanks to the marshalls who applauded and called encouragement to every single runner, and who had to stay out in that dreadful weather for so long. You are all stars!

In short: Very well organised and wonderful marshalls on the course
In full: Very well organised, the marshalls deserve special praise considering the foul weather.
Route is a mix of town and country - I wonder how many expected (if they noticed) the thatched house in Steatley and the few miles of open countryside.

In short: Tough but worth it, marshalls were stars!
In full: 3 laps round the outskirts of Luton in rain and stong wind didn't seem like the ideal way to spend a sunday morning but it was well worth it. Thanks to all the marshalls who were cheery despite being in the bad weather for hours! I especially liked the comments that I'd come along way to run in such bad weather (Gateshead Harrier)!
Scenary was actually ok and the course could have been treacherous with cars and mud but felt remarkably safe.
Mentally one of the tougest things I've ever done - the relay means you're starting the 20th mile with people who are on their 2nd overtaking you (thank goodness it says they're in the relay on their backs!). If I had to leave my autumn mara so late again I'd do it again.
Only negative really was the train info - the first train from West Hampstead only just got me to the start in time (thank you so much to the lady sorting bags who I threw my stuff at as I was changing and running out the door!)

In short: Thank you marshalls.
In full: Marshalls were stars to stay at their stations in bad weather conditions. Three lap format wasn't as bad as it sounds. Friendly runners, organisers, water/ sponge station people and marshalls made for a pleasant atmosphere. Advice for next year, if you need to use the fitness centre showers be prepared for a longish wait and a trickle of water from the shower head. Medal is probably the best quality I have received from any race (puts FLM medal to shame).

In short: Fantastic marshalling in awful conditions
In full: As a marathon newbie I found it challenging to say the least. The first two laps were fine before the legs started to wobble. Thanks to all the runners who gave encouragement for my final 5 mile walk/slowest jog ever.
