In short: Great organisation - Great value for Money - But hard!! In full: Very good race with a great atmosphere at the start and finish area. Plenty of onsite parking, music, bouncy castle - best value for money race and great organisation Date of review: July 19, 2010
In short: Excellent organisation, exceptional value, marvelous marshalls and a plentiful goody bag! In full: My 2nd year and 8 minutes quicker than last year. I managed to run all the way up the megger hill in mile 1 so was thrilled, the uphill at the end of the race was tough going and caught me out finishing in a sub 2 hour, but only by 56 secs! Goody bag extremely good, loved the very colourful t-shirt, brilliant medal and all the other goodies. See you next year and hopefully a sub 2-hour on this course finally! In short: A well organised race but don't expect a PB, it's too hilly! In full: The Wycombe Half was a well organised event in general, although they really need to get some extra loos arranged for the ladies (and poss men too?) I gave up in the end after queuing for 20 mins and not getting anywhere. Apparently it was like this last year too? The race itself was ok, but the hills in the first 2 miles really start take their toll on your endurance by about mile 10. The rest of the route was slightly frustrating too, with a lot of winding around through residential roads, and a really painful last mile where you can see the finish all the way and feel as if you'll never get there. We were rewarded with a fluorescent T-shirt (in sports tech material) and nice medal. The goodie bag had enough chocolate in it to deal with post-race munchies (plus fruit for the healthier option). One to try if you fancy a challenge, I'll see how I feel next year... Date of review: July 19, 2010
In short: Excellent choice for a first time half marathon In full: It was ny first half marathon after doing plenty of 10k's around the common where I live in Clapham over the past 2 years and I can say that it was an excellent and well organised race although the first 20 minutes and the hill at the start were rather tough but along with the excellent support from the locals and other friendly runners it turned out to be a pleasurable event and will definately do it again. The goodie bag was filled with some nice samples and the mars bar and apple were a welcoming energy burst at the end of the race :-) Well done to the winner doing it in an hour and 13 minutes. In short: Great organisation, fantastic medal and challenging run In full: Have to say that having done the Marlow 5 Miler (sponsored by Grant & Stone), my expectations were high and I was not dissapointed.
The hill at the start along with the incline at the end a particularly challenging but the medal and t-shirt were well worth it - we all know that the quality of the goodies is often the big driver in doing these things. Date of review: July 18, 2010
