In short: Was aiming for a PB but fell well short!
In full: What might have been!

Start needs to be longer and please, slower runners at the back! Too much energy expended getting clear! First corner too sharp. Organisation was okay but the tent could have had separate entry and exit to avoid the congestion. Signage for first drinks station could have been better I think. Atmosphere was excellent and support fantastic.

In short: A great event although the start and finish areas good be better
In full: Hastings Half is a very special event. I love this event except for the start and finish areas. Could do with a bigger area and maybe make the big grass area behind the hotel the area for meeting friends and family. Far to congested at the finish. The baggage area near to start time became a complete joke.
I love this event because of the hills and the amazing support ALL the way round. The crowds were superb.

In short: Great course, excellent atmosphere
In full: This was the 1st time I’ve run the Hastings for a number of years and was only running because of the postponement of the Grizzly. I guess that I wasn’t only one as the PA commented more than once about the very high numbers of runner entering this year.

I love this race it has just about everything you could ask for in a half marathon. Challenging hills, long down hills, sunshine and a brilliant atmosphere. Especially at around the 6 mile mark the crowd was incredible!

All in all a great day at the seaside, it’s a real shame that the Grizzly and the Hastings seem to clash every year, perhaps I need to alternate!

In short: Hard hills in first half make for tough pacing and Im sure that sea front stretch is more than 2+1/2 miles. Great organisation for big event, managed a bit of a sun tan too! Back next year.

In short: Proper challenging race - with the heat thrown in!
In full: Hats off to the Hastings Lions, they've done it again. Brilliant organisation which will maintain this race as a UK Athletics gold graded event. Well deserved. Even though the heat took its toll on me today (got a PB last year), and this made the the hilly first 5 miles quite arduous, this is an event not to be missed. Well done to all concerned, especially the Hastings District Scouts who manned the water stations and provided free tea at the end. Much needed. Good range of souvenirs to spend your money on, to help the Lions charitable causes. Wonderful support from the locals too, better than last year! Next year? You bet!
