In short: Christmas present of a race!!!
In full: Always a pleasing and enjoyable event. Like getting an early Christmas present! ... weather looked ominous but stayed away long enough to get the race over and done with. As always a challenging and testing course with the reward of spectacular views from the top!!! ... roll on the 49th running and hopefully something more spectacular for the 50th!!! ... Well done to the organisers and a special thank you to the marshals that braved the elements on our behalf

In short: Good fun, weather ok, not too steep and roads not too busy!
In full: Slightly odd-looking start (as runners have to be backed into a field ready to be unleashed onto the roads) but it was all well-organised and straightforward. The start -> finish 'bag carry service' worked great (nice to be able to put clothes on at the finsh before trudging the mile back to the car parks!). the climb is challenging but fair.

In short: Nicely challenging
In full: Enjoyed my first Hog's Back. However - definitely reiterate other peoples' comments about later finishers having to negotiate other runners / spectators / dogs / pushchairs on way to finish. That last 'mile' was tough enough! Also - would be nice if supporters gave priority to runners in the 'loo queue' prior to race! Overall though - thank you to marshalls who were very cheerful in spite of the weather.

In short: fantastic course, will definitely be back!
In full: The course was great, runnable hills even for a slower runner like me, and a lovely long steep down that made it all worth it! Great organisation, with a smile, thanks to everyone who helped. CAKE WHAT CAKE???? I had a lovely but very expensive cup of tea. Perhaps bananas would be a cheap but helpful free food option at the end? Once I realised the mile markers were in fact placed at random distances apart I stopped looking at my watch and didn't believe the 7 mile marker (just as well!), but overall this was a really special race and I'll be back.

In short: Nice run . . .
In full: I mostly enjoyed this race altho ate too much breakfast and suffered for this most of the way around! Am looking forward to giving it a better go next year. The 'hogs back' wasn't as bad as I had expected and it was a shame about the weather because the view was not viewable! Nice race, good medal but no goodies at the end unless I missed them??

In short: An excellent race. But what's all this about cake???
In full: I've done this for several years and it's a big favourite. Extremely well-organized with plenty of friendly marshalls, and a perfectly-placed water station. The walk back to the start is part of the fun. I always put a flask of coffee and some biscuits in my bag to enjoy on the walk back. I'd have loved a piece of cake. Was it just for the faster runners? I didn't see it, so maybe it had all gone. And, faster runners please note, there are still people finishing as you walk away, please have the courtesy to give them plenty of room, they are probably exhausted after running up that never-ending drive, and the last thing they need is to weave around crowds of people walking three and four abreast. Having said that, there was an improvement on last year, when the drive was heaving with pushchairs, dogs and unruly children.

In short: Wow - my legs sche!
In full: Well, we were warned about the long hill at the start so I was prepared for it - hideously under-prepared for the last bit though! First time doing this and really enjoyed it, but then I enjoy hills anyway!
Cake? WHAT CAKE? I MISSED CAKE? Hmm, gutted about that!

Mile markers were completely out - I've never yet done a 7.14 mile! And that last mile was so long and hard. Still , the marshals were good, lots of water on hand at the water station and finish and plenty of encouragement from supporters too.

I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK NEXT YEAR - AND IN SEARCH OF CAKE!!! :-)
