In short: Frustrating start - lovely scenery - hot day In full: This was the first time I had run this course so did not know what to expect. I was a little concerned about the very narrow start; an announcement was made for slower runners to start behind faster runners. Unfortunately they did not take heed, and I ended up having to get past lots of people despite starting quite near the front.
After some pushing and shoving (on the receiving end) I arrived at the first turn and the route opened up. The rest of the run was hard, mostly due to the heat. The marshalls did well to motivate us and keep us safe. The route was nice and quiet with very few vehicles. Personally I could have done with two water stops due to the heat, but I guess that's not usual for a 10K. Fortunately there was lots of water available at the end. Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: An enjoyable run in the Herts countryside. Encouraging marshals along the way which always helps!!A hot one but had my water this time! nice medal at finish, will be back next year . Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Great 10k course along undulating country lanes. In full: Really loved this route and undulations were perfect for me. Very well organised, well marshalled and friendly race with good mix of club and non-club runners. Very good value for money too. Only complain was the heat!! Well done St Albans Striders. Will definately be back next year to do this unless you fancy running the race again in the autumn when it is cooler in which case I will be back then! Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Hot and hilly In full: A challenging hilly course on minor roads, which apart from the start and finish was fairly traffic free. Only the congested narrow start was frustrating with a least one faller - I know because she fell into me. Other than that it was well organised and friendly with a neat memento for finishing.
