In short: Stadium start & finish made this good but organisation could have been better at both. Fast 1st half route but then the hills appear. Nothing too daunting but put an end to any PB potential. Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Stadium start and finish made this feel special In full: On the whole a very well-organised event with excellent facilities provided by the stadium and a friendly well-supportive crowd. After crossing the finish line it seemed a little chaotic - given a bubble-wrapped medal, a muesli bar and some Red Bull (that I refused) as I was desperate for some water. In short: Really good course - thoroughly enjoyed it - but no lucazade sponsors! In full: Only criticism would be the lack of lucazade which I have come to expect of the larger events...must have been pampered too much in the past. Will remember to bring my own next time! In short: Love it! In full: This is how a race should be organised. Superb. Oh, and I got a PB ;-) Really like this race, 2nd year on a trot and will be doing it again next year... Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Good organisation spoiled by a few niggles In full: By the time I got to Ecclesall Road I found myself enjoying this race due to all the friendly runners and support - it took a while as I generally don't like 1.roads 2.crowds 3.running at 9:30 a.m. Marshals were friendly and helpful and the organisation was generally good. On the down side, given the price it would seem reasonable to expect more toilets. It's not rocket science - over 5000 runners and you know what they'll want to do before they set off. (It's not helped by the shy boys who feel it's necessary to use the toilet cubicles to get changed - put your kit on at home or get over your hangups and let other people have a c***). The organisation at the end was chaotic and some of the Sheffield events staff overly officious. But overall a good day out and the weather much better than expected.
In short: Fantastic race In full: Really enjoyed my day knocking over 3 months off my previous PB. Only a couple of annoying things I picked up on. There seemed a severe lack of mens toilets at the start with a very long que just before the start, energy drinks would have been nice at a couple of points around the course and there were no portaloos on route (could be a problem if you were caught short as the area is urban with no bushes to pop behind) :) Overall though the event was well organised and smoothly run. In short: Excellent gets better every year. In full: Special thanks to everyone who cheers us all on. Ecclesall Road support is the most uplifting a big thanks. Thanks to all who put together this excellent race. Date of review: April 27, 2008
