In short: Love Castle Combe....best weather conditions for ages!
In full: What a lovely day for a race at Castle Combe? Normally we have to battle the hail, rain, wind...but today....bliss! A well organised event and a nice statue momento to all finishers, goodies and OK facilites, nice hot food in cafe afterwards!
Always a joy to run on such a 'true' surface and traffic free....see you in August!

In short: Well organised, good PB potential, no queues
In full: Def recommend the race to all. Easy access, well organised. Good PB potential in spite of windy conditions. Glad i went even though drive over to circuit was in filthy weather, alas the sun came out at the start.

In short: purposeful , professional but friendly
In full: Permanently-plumbed loss; a warm building with catering in; plenty of spaces to keep out of the wind; plenty of parking: all this made it logistically straightforward. The route itself is a bit dull by dint of being laps, but that has its advantages in pacing/strategy as well. It was only a shame that we didn't all know about the way to go round the sensor that would have recorded our splits. Ghastly Soviet-style trophy is so awful that it's already a talking point. Parky up on that plateau, but I shall give it another go next year!

In short: Great event. One of the most user friendly 10k races you'll find
In full: Really enjoyed this event. The organisation seemed really professional but with just a few hundred runners also really accessible & friendly and more personal. Great value too. Really loved the little boy calling out the runners names from the bib numbers so dad could shout encouragement through a megaphone. Impressively fast pinning up the results at the end. Venue is interesting and great quality surface to run on - have to get your head around running 3 laps of the same circuit but it's different. Would be a great venue for a bigger crowd as loads of space. Easy to get to, easy free parking and no waiting for toilets all help make this event even more user friendly. Professional timing and photography add to the quality of the event. Bit windy this time - I'll be back on a calmer day to beat my time.

In short: A great race, well organised and enjoyable
In full: this was my first ever race, having been running purely for fitness for the last two years i decided to give a race a go for fun. the course is effectively three laps of castle combe circuit, smooth tarmac and minor undulations, having driven round the circuit before i have to say i was quite looking forward to running it. terrible weather an hour before the race made me worried but with ten minutes to go the rain ceased, the clouds (almost) parted and it was dry but very windy. there is a stretch between 2km and 3km (thus repeated three times in the race) on the course where the wind was strong and you were noticeably leaning into the wind, tiring but all part of the fun.

the atmosphere was nice, though it was clear there were some fast runners in this race, i just went round at a comfortable pace and enjoyed myself. i was very pleased with a time of sub 49 minutes and i was converted.

the scenary is dull though, for most of the lap its just the empty spectator banking though it was nice at the end of each lap to see people.

this is a perfect race for beginners. infact any race organised by the same team would be recommended. the things a first timer looks for are things like ease of registration, parking etc (it sounds daft but anything to settle the nerves is very welcome), lap boards every km for pacing and a friendly atmosphere, all of which were present here at castle combe.
