In short: Undulating - really!!
In full: Great race, well organised and have to say, great course...even the, and I quote the "evil hill". Did not enter until the last minute but glad I did - well worth the trip down. Well done to Tom & his team AND to all those who ran both races. Thanks.

In short: Glad i did it, but never again
In full: I applied early this year for this race, as part of my training plan for this year's New York marathon. I wouldn't consider myself an expert (yet), but of all the races I have done, this was the toughest (and that includes 2 marathons). The terrain was hard going, slippery steep uphill climbs and no let off when coming down either as you had to look out for where you were treading. Was it just me or did there seem to be far more uphills than down? Spent the whole 14 miles watching my feet to avoid tree roots and rocks (and saw two people go over in front of me). The race was well marked, well marshalled and the water stops were regular enough, but it just didn't suit my training and for an ordinary joe used to flat road running this was too full of injury risks for me. Not taking anything away from the organisation or the setting (it was glorious) - just a bit more than I was prepared for. My average pace for this race was half a minute a mile slower than my marathon pace - that's how hard it was. For all you trail race nutters out there - enjoy next year! I might even come back and marshall!

In short: A bit of everything...mud,hills, water, fields, forests......superb race.
In full: Well done for organising such a great race. Marshalls were just so encouraging, water stations were so organised and friendly. The signage was really helpful. I am a convert to trail running! super medal.....thanks everyone. Back next year to do it the other way?

In short: Challenging but fun and a great mix of terrain
In full: This is a great race and i'll do it again next year. First 2-3 miles were a killer with steep muddy hills leading to bottle neck tracks. The course lead you through fields, farms, woods and rivers - a gut wrenching hill at the ninth (i think) but after that, pretty much down hill from there. Great organisation, plenty of signs, good atmosphere - only downfall was lack of facilities for the ladies....no showers and a tiny room for glas to get changed in. This really needs looking at considering the amount of people that turn up.

In short: Superb organisation from Mr Frost, as ever, and all his marshals for one of the most friendly events of the year. Enjoyed (?!) the tough, new route..

In short: Tough, Tough, Tough, .....Oh did i mention it was tough!
In full: Dont be put off by the tough heading, its a good test of your fitness levels(of which mine wasn't good enough). Route marking was one of the best i have ever seen, and the marshalls were excellent as was the organisation. I will be back next year to beat this years time........

In short: Good course, well organised, perfect weather
In full: Trail runs are always more fun than road runs! I thoroughly enjoyed this not least because it wasn't very hot and the mostly wooded course was cool anyway. Terrain was good fun, road, stone tracks, sand paths and even through a ford. Only really 2 very big inclines (at about 1-2 miles) and in the second half (that one hurt) and more level running than I'd expected, so there is PB potential by trail standards. It was still a tough 14m though. Course marking superb and marshalling & drinks very good. The only minor annoyance was the bottleneck up hill number 1 caused by so many runners chosing to walk up the hill - very surprising given that we'd only been plodding for 10 mins or so. Top marks to the organisers.

In short: Great race - thanks to all the marshalls and organisers.
In full: Nice not having to do the steps that were in last year's race. Lots of water stations and one with jelly bears! I hurt my ankle but still enjoyed it!!
