In short: Dull
In full: Boring route, basically just running around part of the ring road. Did a personal best but whole event seemed lacklustre. No real atmosphere unlike other 10K events in the great run series. To be honest it was poor every which way you look at it or try to hype it up. I would not recommend this race to anyone. I would not be surprised if BUPA up sticks and change to another Yorkshire town or city in the future.

In short: OK but not special
In full: I thought that the organisation was good, no problems with the park and ride, baggage drop-off and wave start. It did lack a bit of atmosphere though, for a race with so many runners support was a bit thin on the ground and the empty band tent was a bit dispiriting. It was good to see the faster/slower runners on the opposite side of the carriageway 'cos really that's all there was to look at!!

In short: Good but not Great run I thought ...
In full: My least favourite out of all the Great Runs I've done (have done most now) and I think that was primarily because of the route. Most of it along a dual carriageway and back - but still with an evil hill at the end!
Loved the bands and choice of music though - that really helped propel me along!

In short: Disappointed
In full: This years event was not a patch on last year; the course was better, the crowds were better, the bands were better and there was a BIG video screen at 5k.

The start pens seemed a little congested for my liking and it was a real squeeze running space for the first 1K or so (a runner nearly took me out with some erratic manoeuvres at one point).

The course was dull, we just seemed to be running past industrial unit and industrial unit with the occasional McDonalds thrown in and, even the turn around at the football ground didn’t do much to lift the spirits. It was disappointing to see so few spectators/supporters out there and even more depressing to run past tented areas reserved for bands that had not turned up. The road surface on the climb to the finish seemed a little slippery underfoot and the 800m climb was a little harsh for some of the runners on the day!

Overall I was not impressed with this years attempt to stage the Great Yorkshire. Will I run it again? I doubt it…! It’s a bit pricey and dull and with so many other running events this time of the year it’s hard to justify paying the entry fee for such a boring run!

In short: Will be there next Year
In full: Killer hill at the end, but worth it great support, Wave could do with a little more thought, but with the start location, it was bound to be conjested. although i think it added to the atmostphere

In short: Well organised; nice atmosphere
In full: Well organised; relaxed atmosphere; plenty of toilets; park-and-ride convenient; nice touches like the bands en-route (including Robbie Williams tribute), running under Hillsborough, shower at 7k. Plenty of room in the Green wave I thought. Particularly liked the Nike power tracks at 9k (Greenday and Prodigy) which helped push me up that final hill. Will definitely do next year
