In short: Great views, a bit treacherous underfoot. Well worth braving the vagaries of Sunday trains for.
In full: This race went up and down like West Brom, but was a great deal easier on the eye. Getting to the top of an absolute MULE of a hill to be rewarded with a view of what I presume would class as the South Downs was a really rewarding experience.

It was worth keeping your eyes down at times, though: there were patches of skiddy dust, loose stones, potholes and prodigiously sized horse stools waiting for the unwary.

I'm a huge fan of getting a proper technical tee at the end, although it looks like it's perfect for a wet t-shirt contest. And beer? Cheers!

In short: a wonderfuly chalenging trail race - superbly orgqnised. Enjoyed every single minute of it
In full: One of the best races I have run for a long time. Challenging. Tough. Beautiful countryside. Gels were a blessing and kept me going up the hills. No badgers!

In short: A glorious - and testing - autumn half mara
In full: We had ideal conditions for this tough half mara that makes a loop from Leatherhead, up through the green and leafy Surrey Hills to Bockett's Farm (a tasty 976 feet of elevation according to the Garmin - not the Midsummer Munro, but tough enough!) and then back down, round on the dual carriageway to end up at the Leisure Centre. Great start, with Dr Rob of Union Jack shorts fame leading us all in the usual stirring rendition of 'God Save the Queen', and then proceeding to run past most of us in the early miles! Thanks, Dr. Rob! Tricky climb up through Norbury and the into the trail sections, and then the really challenging hill up to Bockett's. We were rewarded with some amazing views, though! I linked up with two people running my pace, and the chat about the parlous state of global economics got me though the worst bits. Thanks Brian and 'Blue'! After conjuring with a narrow trail with lots of roots, the downhill started, and that was just fantastic. My husband drove by while I was on the home stretch on the dual carriageway, and seeing him gave me a real lift, so my pace home was quite decent, and I felt strong. A last run across the playing field, and I crossed the line. Job done! A gentle rain just started to fall as I finished. Some nice goodies, including a Badger ale and a t-shirt, then home to chill out.

I really recommend this race. It's a beautiful environment, well-marshalled and challenging. Well done to Events to Live!

Make sure you do your hill work, though! Intervals up Box Hill (a stone's throw away) might be a good idea...

In short: Super organisation, beautiful race, fab marshalls and even a handshake at the end.
In full: The race has a limited number of entrants but through runner's world I was able to buy the place of someone who could no longer run. The race organisers were super in helping to make this change go smoothly and the race ended up being one of my favourites of the year.

In short: fab rac and goody bag
In full: What a great way to spend your Sunday. Challenging course and very nice marshalling. Liked the singing of the Nation Anthem and the quick start straight after. A few challenging up and downs but certainly enjoyable. Will be back next year!
