In short: Well worth the entry, definitely a great way to start the new year. In full: Entry might seem steep, but remember some of it is for charity. The scenery, atmosphere, organisation and also the goody bag are all most certainly top shelf.
This race sells out for a reason, because it's awesome.
It is a bit of a lung buster, but you will be glad you did it. Date of review: January 2, 2014
In short: A magnificent and masochistic start to the year. In full: Not even the biblical weather could dampen the spirits of this year's Knacker Cracker. The course was tough, particularly in the torrential rain, but the atmosphere of the runners and volunteers is first rate. A fine start to the year. Date of review: January 2, 2014
In short: Not for the faint hearted, but a have to do 10k In full: Weather this year was pretty challenging, I wondered why the registration area had moved this year until I saw the video of it being blown off the hill. Slightly shorter than last year as one of the direction signs was blown down and everyone followed the runner in front. Still it was as hard, fun and challenging as ever. Looking forward to next years race maybe it will be snowing. Date of review: January 2, 2014
In short: Good game good game In full: Great race yet again, only niggle was everyone taking a wrong turn due to a sign being blown over. The weather was atrocoius and the crew have to be commended for the race taking place at all. Date of review: January 2, 2014
In short: The Spartans could have learnt a lot from Dr.Rob In full: Really pleased that Dr Rob hadn't called off the event despite the conditions and fact that much of the surrounding area was sealed off and on a flood alert. At first I thought the shorter route was a safety measure - having seen most of the event equipment get blown across Boxhill but then I started to get dark thoughts, waiting for the bonus hill to appear, Thankfully it never did and to be honest on a day like today the short distance was enough of a challenge. Hats off to the three special runners who knackered and knickered their cracker by going back and completing the full course. Big thanks to the Marshall's who had to stay out in the elements longer than a spartan baby on the side of a hill. Thanks to Dr,Rob for pointing out that I was showing signs of hypothermia and suggested I sit back in the car - and that was before the start! The soup dragon and roblets for administering warm soup, carrots and shiny things. And finally to the snowman - if you could still make the effort to be out in those conditions marshalling then it is only fair that we runners do our best to take part. In short: A small intimate race... Please don't change. In full: Strong Winds and Heavy Rain made 2014 a tough year. Lesser organisers would have cancelled, but not Trionium. Well done for that. Only gripe was someone leading the whole field onto the wrong route so ended up being a few km short. Looking forward to 2015 though. Date of review: January 1, 2014
