In full: Everything about this race is top notch! From the friendly marshalls at the start, to the fantastic course, gorgeous scenery, fun fancy dress, and goodies galore at the finish - mug, medal, top with everyone's name on, cheese roll and hot soup!!! Perfect!!! Thanks so much Dr Rob and his crew. Can't wait for next time!!!

In short: My first knacker cracker and the toughest race I've ever done but still loved it.
In full: Very tough. But it's an institution. Brilliant costumes and some good banter. Impossible to run the whole way because it's too steep and on this occasion dangerously slippery too. Very enjoyable though. Strongly recommended to chase away the New year's day hangover.

In short: 3rd year for me and still a special race. Highlight was the Grim reaper attacking the Morris Men with his scythe!

In short: grinned all the way round, very friendly race and interesting course
In full: Have read lots of comments about this, and realise it's impossible to please everyone! Very sad that lots of late finishers were lonely at the back as no longer a staggered start, and it must be v disappointing to miss out on the goodies too, albeit temporarily.
New downhill start was a good way to warm up legs before first ascent of the course, but v crowded at beginning. Could there be 2 starts, first one with the speedies who want to dash off and get PBs, with those expecting to take more than 1and a half hours directly behind them. Then, about half an hour later, the rest of the field, say those expecting between one and one and a half hours. That way the "serious" runners wouldn't be held up on narrow stretches, and the beginners, or more "relaxed" runners, wouldn't be finishing when everyone has gone home. Start number two would be out of the way before the first runners finish, and there would always be plenty of action at the start/finish for spectators. Potential problem may be crowding on the steps as wave 2 catches up with slower ones from wave 1, but I think steps tend to get congested anyway!
