In short: Lovely run, good views, shame about the poor organisation. In full: Poor organisation of event, but with experience of Nice Works other runs, it is very clear that it was not their fault. It is a shame that the locals are not prepared to help out with an event that will benefit Lydd, as it is a lovely town in a delightful area. It was my first 1/2 marathon and I found it a good run with good scenery and the atmosphere between runners was extremely friendly, even the lambs welcomed the runners back into the village! I hope Nice Work do not lose faith with this event and make it very successful next year. Date of review: March 15, 2010
In full: quite windy on the way out. Big water issues there was only one lady handing out drinks at 3 miles and at 6 miles there weren't any drinks left. A distinct lack of marshalls on the course which was not the organisers fault after all the is only so much one person can do! If the water station problems were resolved it would be a decent race to do. Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: PB potential without the wind In full: After reading other posts :
1. If you want water then take your own run bottle. How much can you drink from a plastic cup anyway ? 2. Toilets. Get there earlier. 3. Lack of sign posts to the HQ/start ? Buy a satnav then follow the runners walking to the village hall (it WAS blindingly obvious !!)
Unfortunately the race director was let down by people at the last minute, hence the lack of marshalls at water stations. Lets just hope that they have a wind free day next year !!! Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: Poor organisation In full: Yet another Nice work run which is virtually an out and back, surely they can come up with a unique route? They ran out of water at 6 miles so many had to go without water from 3 to 10 miles. Only 2 toilets in the HQ which left a shocking smell in the foyer and a que about half hour long. In short: A scenic race, but where was the organisation? In full: This has to be one of the most shambolic races, i've ever been to. No signs to the race HQ, long queues for very overworked toilets, no clear markings/signs for the start line. Not to mention a lack of marshals on course & a complete lack of water (one very overworked marshal manning a water station at 3mile, 6mile was non existent, the race was just about reprieved by the 10 mile station - but this was to little to late).
I will not be running this race again. Its only redeeming feature was the scenic countryside. Date of review: March 15, 2010
