In short: 'just do it'...better next time
In full: I think it's all been said really. Lack of useful pre-race info, too long in the stadium (I was wave 4), boring and twisty route, no medal, lack of atmosphere in general. Good points? the first few minutes of being in Wembley, easy to get to, nice t-shirts. Overall simply not worth the money and time wasted. This could have been so much better had a little more thought gone into the fact that it was a run first and foremost rather than a night of entertainment with some running at the end.

In short: Badlyorganised race, who wants to spend 2 hrs locked in stadiumisteneing to sic
In full: Locked in stadium waiting to run, no one knew what time each wave was due to leave. Running down dark street in rain not pleasant. Too much hanging around. Nike will have to do better next time

In short: Next year if they have the concert the at the end of the race and during the day I'm sold.
In full: This was my first 10k race and I must say I have a mixed review. Instead of starting the race inside heading out they really should have ended the race inside the stadium. This would have created s smoother start for everyone. Also, the course was poorly lit. I'm thankful I didn't trip over anything other than the pools of water. After standing for 3 hours straight, it would have been nice to rest my legs a bit more before the race. My friend and I noticed that the sensors on the floor for Nike to keep track of our time disturbed our own stopwatches/ipods. Either the music stopped playing or the time went off on our own stopwatches. The shirt at the end and running towards wembley stadium at night was nice. Now that I've done it, I think I may do it again under different circumstances.

In short: A good idea gone very badly wrong
In full: I thought I was looking forward to this run (I wasnt even thinking of it as a race). We arrived before 6pm as advised on the ticket despite the torrential downpour on the way. I was expecting to get off at 7pm as Im sure thats what time wave 4 said when I registered. We sat, and we sat and we sat. we went onto the pitch when & were told wave 3 would start in 15 mins (I was getting more and more fed up) by this time it was pouring with rain. Finally at least an hour and a half after the time I thought we would start we were sent on our way by Paula. Fortunately the rain stopped. No wonder we ran in the dark, the route was miserable - although I had 3 memorable moments - seeing the arch lit up, seeing thousands of people in red shirts running uphill while I was running down & in one small part I noticed how quiet it was. I finished near the back - Id seen people wearing the finishing t shirt & was looking forward to getting mine - no such luck there were no ladies large T-shirts in sight when I got to the end. And was it actually 10k, did anyone else find themselves taking 4 minutes longer to finish despite it being cool, fairly flat & feeling they were physically running well? Even the men coming in first seemed to be taking along time for a 10k (over 30 minutes)

In short: Nikemare
In full: Agree with all the comments written so far but would like to add that it could have been worse - you could have been a spectator! My friend and I ran the race and we had two spectators. As soon as the last wave left the stadium so did our spectators! No where to go. No where to wait. Nothing to do. Cold. Wet. Dark. The whole thing was just so so bad I cant believe it.

In short: The McDonalds at the end was the only redeeming factor
In full: I thought that the pre-event info stating that we'd be subjected to a 60mins concert was fair enough, but after waiting for 90mins for the race to start and with no indication from the presenter that it would ever start I'm surprised the stage wasn't pelted with empty water bottles - we're obviously runners not footballers. Running out of Wembley was the draw for me, but every tight corner round the carpark and running the badly lit course was ridiculous. I've done one of the night runs with Nike in the past in Greenwich and this was one I really enjoyed - not the Human Race. I couldn't get over why the bands seemed quite bemused that people weren't jumping around - perhaps it's because we were about to run over 6miles and didn't want to waste our energy. I ran a PB according to my Garmin as I'm sure the race was actually over 6.5miles, meaning I could have stopped running at the Texaco garage (the only lit up bit on the route). I get what Nike are trying to do and I do buy into their sports for all philosophy, but having people in wave 1 start walking at 2k is just unacceptable. I like to think of myself as a polite runner but even I gave out a few elbows as runners with ipods bumbled out of the stadium. I think the fact that I was so angry about waiting around for 3hrs (we got to Wembley at 4.30pm) meant that I ran as fast as I could to get home and get dry. Really disappointing and I'm afraid the t-shirts don't make up for it. I'll be sticking to local 10ks from now on and ones that stick to the right distance.

In short: Frustrating and horrible
In full: As everyone else has said, it was really badly planned, in a bad location and at a stupid time for where it was.

One of the worst bits was seeing every other country running in the light all at once while we were running in the dark slowly through an industrial estate.

I am curious to know why they never released times for the starts of waves and why we were trapped in the stadium for the concert when so few people wanted it.

Clearly a run for non-runners and wouldn't be fun for them either.

A race to forget

In short: At least the rain wasn't Nike's fault
In full: On the positive side, it was decent value if you tot up the two t-shirts, lucozade sport, Starbucks vouchers and timing chip (some races you have to rent these separately). I would agree with the negatives already cited though: hanging around, dreadful route, entire lack of atmosphere, not knowing where the finish was etc etc. I feel sorry for those who were doing their first race, this would really put you off racing. Very poorly executed by Nike and we know they can do better. Glad I was there with a few mates but this still counts as one of my worst race experiences, with the British 10k jostling for top spot. Can London please sort out its 10k events??
