In short: Great PB potential, great scenery but seriously let down but events organisation
In full: In fairness though, the joining instructions advised everybody to arrive early (earlier than most had turned up for - from my observations) but should've been tougher around this point. Needed a bigger registration area (more people needed to serve) as at one point there must've been a queue literally a mile long! Delays in starting the race was blamed on a rail strike between Kings Cross and Peterborough so not sure how that affected the start of the race. Essentially though, the event for me was OK as I was one of the first to arrive, but has the potential to be much better. The organisers need to take the feedback they receive seriously otherwise they will very quickly loose out. On a different note, the course was fine (got a new PB), weather was cold but held up and general atmosphere was good. KM markers were a bit sporadic.

In short: Scenery Good, Runners Good, Organisation, well what Organisation !
In full: The route is good and the second half very scenic as you run along the tow path. The runners as usual were in good spirits despite the very cold weather. But it was all let down badly by the worst organisation that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.
For some bizarre reason you had to queue for a timing chip, despite the number coming in the post. There was inadequate toilets and baggage facilities. As a result of all this and in cold weather the start was delayed by 15 minutes.
The best or worst bit depending on your sense of humour was that there was a traffic jam at the finish, because the chip removal etc was too close to the finish. So your cooling down was done in the cold whilst trying to get shot of your timing chip. I can only imagine that the organisers were not runners themselves.

In short: Very fast but very bad!
In full: Got a pb so should be happy. I'm certainly happy that I didn't encounter many of the problems other reviewers had. I was far enough to the front not to have to queue to finish - but it doesn't surprise me and not what you want. Good job it started late as I would have still been queueing for my chip. I was also lucky that I was near the start when it started completely out of the blue. Pretty sloppy that there were no roads closed. I had to slow for a car at one point. The point of a paid event is that you don't have to do this sort of thing. I could have run this route on my own, free of charge and had pretty much the same experience. Next time close the roads or limit the entry. Greedy gits!!

Having said that the route is excellent. Flat as a pancake although slightly uneven along the towpath. Pity it was wet underfoot otherwise we could have gone even faster.

Glad I did it but will need better organisation to be back.
