In short: Ouch. It's rather hilly In full: Marvellous event, lovely scenery, teriffically smiley marshalls, but seriously hard work- my finishing time was, ooh, about 1 hour down on my HM PB. Very bling medal and tech T-shirt at the finish and sandwiches (how civilized). Date of review: June 21, 2010

In short: Outstanding race In full: Fantastic race! Great bunch of runners and marshals. Still in pain two days later but the joy of running the course will last forever. Well, until I'm stood at the start line next year knowing what is to come ;) Date of review: June 21, 2010

In short: Hill - tastic ! In full: This is without a doubt the hardest race I've ever done and totally justifies it's claim to be the hardest half. 8 gruelling ascents and descents but in the most beautiful scenery and varied terrain. This is the ultimate x country run! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming like the weather, and there was a real sense of the organisers giving their all. Lots of nice touches such as Jaffa cakes at water stations and 'encouraging' signs along the way. Finally at the end a nice spread with sandwiches, cakes and a very nice goody bag. I couldn't eat a thing as I felt physically sick, yet euphoric at the same time to have finished this race. Train hard if you want to do this race, but no matter what you do, it's still going to hurt! Date of review: June 21, 2010

In short: If you are looking to do something a bit special then this one is perfect! In full: First time to run it and will be signing up again for next year without a doubt. It is as tough as they say but because of this the atmosphere is great with plenty of mid-run banter between runners. Organisation, marshaling, route signs, pre and post refreshments were spot on too! Date of review: June 20, 2010

In short: Uplifting, challenging, rewarding : A superb race In full: This was my fourth participation. everything, this year, was against me. My husband is in hospital, my son was unwell the day before, we now have a dog that cannot be left alone for too long... And yet, we made it happen! I drove to Box Hill, I ran the race, I walked up these steps, I cheered on other fellow runners (utter respect to the first man who seemed to have wings on...somewhere :-). Ran down the hill towards the finish, grabbed a couple of sandwiches (so welcome) and Jaffa cakes, felt the friendly atmosphere but did not stay. Drove back to hospital to show my medal to my husband. He had tears as he knew how much I like this race (he also knows the course as he did one pre-race run one year!). The last half I ran prior yesterday was the Munro 2009! What makes this race special is its great organiser Dr Rob, its cheerful marshals, Surrey scenery, all the goodies during and post race, comraderie between fellow runners, its ultimate challenge in itself is bound to bring a smile on your face....if not during the race, at least later...much later in hindsight). It usually is a family occasion . This year I ran it for my husband Peter! I hope to be back in 2011! Thank you Dr Rob. This is my favourite race! Date of review: June 20, 2010

In short: A big toughie in wondrous settings, great organisation and great marshalls In full: Billed as the 'toughest half marathon in Britain' - no kidding! All sorts of terrains you could think of - hills, fields, paths, trails, stones, water, steps, you name it! Makes it all the more interesting and take the focus off the pain somewhat. Great tech shirt with all runners' names on it, a lovely cap and a great medal. Would I do it again? Maybe - if only because I was a wuss with a phobia of heights that makes the steep downhill bits a bit of a nightmare scenario for me. Maybe I'll volunteer to marshal next time!
