In short: 5th time around and I tamed Keepers Hill... In full: Decided to run as I felt rather than clock watch each mile and after driving (not literally) up the hill at Mile 4 and Mile 7; I felt there was enough in the tank for the gentle downwards spiral towards the finish.... And Quelle Suprise.... A PB by nearly 40 seconds.....
Organisation and marshalling was fine.. Those complaining should just arrive a little earlier...
Water stations, Memento and Banana.. Just about spot on... Let's face it (All the previous medals you've won are in a box or cupboard unlooked at), and the last mug you got probably needs a damn good bleaching and as for people complaining about the ripeness of bananas.... Come On Guys.... It's not Tesco's Finest!!!!!
No complaints from me, so I guess I'll have less frownlines...
See you next year Invicta!!!! Date of review: February 2, 2010

In short: Very scenic run in the countryside. More hilly than expected. In full: First time running this race and was a good day out. Weather was good with lovely sunshine, if a little chilly. Very pleasantly surprised by my time which was well below what I'd aimed for despite the hills. So a good day in all.
Did feel the marshalls could have been a bit more encoraging. Most I ran past didn't say a word. Would have loved a medal. Mugs for me just aren't the same as a good old medal round the neck. Sorry just my personal preferrence!... And a green banana that will be several days before edible. Date of review: February 2, 2010

In short: First time for me and it was a beautiful race. In full: Managed a PB even with a slight skiing injury to my knee. Fantastic scenery and such a well organised race. Will definitely be back next year. Lovely running through little villages and on farm tracks which made for a very peaceful experience. Date of review: February 2, 2010

In short: Superb Organisation - and welcoming to elite, club runners and beginners alike In full: At this time of year, it is worth the round trip from Crawley. An excellent "reality check" on your fitness as you step up the miles for that Spring Marathon. Don't be depressed by the 5 mile split, the 2nd half is much quicker and your time will be a pleasant surprise. Thanks to all the smiling helpers and the friendly announcer! In short: It's no joke running in the freezing cold. Especially when it's so cold that it's enough to make your toes curl, it was worth it because it was Canterbury 10 miles. In full: The reason why I and hundreds of runners were here was because of the famous Canterbury 10 mile race. It is known as a ‘fast course’. Just be warned there are a couple of hills at 3 miles which is small and yet tough, as well as a mammoth of a hill at 7 miles. Here you will see the same regular runners who ran Dartford 10 miles. It does feel like bit like déjà vu. Wow - CHIPS again!!! Like Dartford 10 we had to collect the IEK chip timing from the headquarters.
Canterbury 10 mile race is extremely popular and is a very well organised race. The course is bit quicker than Dartford, so your running time should tickle you pink, unless you have a dodgy leg. To be honest my race time didn’t tickle me. I was right at the back after queuing for the toilet for 18 minutes. The race was congested with runners for the first one and a half miles and I was shuffling slowly at the back.
After the race for my efforts I received a green banana, I didn’t know whether to eat it or cook it. In fact it was no banana it was a Jamaican Plantain. I did not eat it for fear of losing my teeth. I also receive a white cup with the club name and race printed on it. My hands were so numb I nearly dropped the thing and that would have been the end of my ‘momento’.I would have preferred a medal. I have a gut feeling another china cup will be coming my way in 2010!
On a positive note I must say the organisation was faultless. The Marshals and the Police were directing traffic; and there was great parking next to Headquarters. Picking up the chip was not problematic. I like the idea of small Evian bottles at the water stations. I came prepared with my water it was shaken but not stirred. The Marshals were great, many of them were applauding you every step of the way. I like the Marshal who, at the finish, shouted “You’ve got 500 meters left.â€
I’m glad I ran Canterbury 10 miles, initially I was not going to enter the race after a bad experience in November. I had gotten lost in Canterbury and did not make it to a Cross country race called Rough Common; I clocked 120 miles that day!
This was definitely a quality race and yes it was worth every penny. Well done Invicta East Kent Athletics Club. I salute you for all your hard work and effort especially in this cold weather. I hope your toes weren’t too curled up!
Also well done to Kate, Ellie and Caroline from Kent Athletic Club. It was good to see you all in such great form – as usual. Give my regards to Coach Carter, I mean Coach Adrian and congratulate him on his prestigious award.
Last but not least, I would like to say that I am very proud of my two daughters who recently got baptised in their local Seventh-Day Adventist Church. SDA is also linked to ADRA the Charity/Organisation. Every year they do a fun run in Crystal palace. Runners World I will let you know the date and time of Adra fun run. Last year it clashed with Darenth Valley 10k. That day I ran than both.
Thats all folks!
