In short: not london, but a good marathon great support In full: for a 1st attempt, Brighton did okay, the Park n Ride needs to be better orginised. the race was well supported on the course in general and the wall at 20 miles was a nice touch. No changing tent at the finsh was annoying. and a poor goody bag and why the cotton t-shirt? with saucony as a major sponsor a tech t shirt to been seen running in would have been nice. overall a good 1st attempt, would do again if i don,t get in london 2011 Date of review: April 24, 2010

In short: HUGE thanks to the organisers who have worked very very hard to get this one to happen ... well done guys. In full: After running my first Marathon in London last year and I was a little apprehensive that this wouldn’t get close … OH HOW WRONG WAS I!!!! This was an excellent first time event and will definitely challenge London in the future.
I do have a few comments that could have improved the day for me but, they are very small minor issues that im sure will be sorted out.
Start: As many have already said there were not enough toilets at the start. This is a common problem at many races but also maybe the organisers could look at an ‘Runners’ only area at the start similar to London. I was queuing for the toilets with spectators in Preston Park and not just runners …
PowerAid: Maybe 10 miles in is a little late for the first sports drink station. In the later stages I suffered with cramp due mainly to sweating so much in the hot weather and maybe more isotonic drink in the earlier stages could have helped me …
Road to Hell: I found this part strangely amusing the ‘wall’ that was on the entry and exit to the power station loop did may me same. I can however understand why people may have found this a little harsh at such a late stage in the race.
Overall this was an excellent race, and excellent day and an excellent first event. The organisers have worked very hard for the past few years to get this race to happen and they deserve a huge thank you! Also big thanks to everyone who turned out to support this.
Living only 7 miles from the start line makes this my local and so long as the keens can cope ill be back.

In short: Good run but could be improved In full: Improvements: more toilets in Preston park. Perhaps sort of temporary bridges on the front so the public don't have to walk on the course. How is it somebody with the same chip time ends up 300 places above me , could somebody explain how the placing system worked Date of review: April 23, 2010

In short: My favourite city now has a fantastic race! In full: This was a fantastic race, I'm still buzzing. The crowd were amazing and people who lived along the route made loads of effort with their stereos hanging out of windows and other noise and atmosphere.
As others have said the bit through the industrial land was really grim and badly timed as it is just at the most difficult part of the race so an alternative would be good!
I dont agree with the people who say it has hills, it was flatter than I could have imagined! Date of review: April 23, 2010

In short: I must be getting old and grumpy because this was a good, could be great race let down by a couple of basic things In full: I dont know why there are never enough toilets. There were still queues at nearly all the blocks after the official start. How much does an extra 30 cabins cost? There was also no where to change at the finish, so I just got naked at the side by a very grumpy mono syllabic female steward stopping people going up the stairs. Maybe thats why she was so grumpy. Otherwise I had a great time. Flat, fast course. Enough variety of scenery. Maybe more water as it was a warm day. Great support. Definately do it again Date of review: April 22, 2010

In short: BEST RACE YET - THANKS In full: Start was delayed due to badly parked car. That was the only bad thing of the day. The start area was well organised with ample toilets and good commentary. The 'walk through' gents toilets were very good and saved alot of time. A big thanks to all thoses who came out to cheer us on, wonderful. The water/drink stations were well managed, thank yoiu to all the people who helped. The ending was equally good. The only slightly disheartening part of the run was the slog out to the power station but this was livened up by the very loud DJ in the docks. I understand the olderst runner was 81, wel done. Some of the 'get ups' were good especially MR GONAD running to raise funds for testicular cancer research I think. Date of review: April 22, 2010
