In short: Another well orgainised marathon
In full: Plenty of support especially the last 3 miles along the seafront. Would like to run next year.

In short: Well done Brighton
In full: Very enjoyable marathon.

Organisation was very good ensuring that there were enough of all facilities, water, gels and energy blocks.

Downside was the dog-leg 14-18 miles and the Road to Hell 20-23 miles.

Great support at most parts of the course.

In short: First marathon, excellent organisation, plenty of water and fuel stations. Felt big but never overcrowded. May try London next year but this is a good option for anyone not running that.
In full: As it was my first marathon I don't have anything to compare to, but felt fairly flat. The latter miles were a bit of a wasteland and the long loop through Hove was tough mentally: seeing runners on the other side of the road two miles ahead of you was hard.
Small point: including the post-race meeting points on the finish map would make it easier for friends and family to meet up. Also more toilets on route would have been nice, though ideally the trick is not to need them I guess. On the plus side the atmosphere was very good, the water pouches were a good idea (much less chance of tripping over them) and the whole event felt professional. Nice unique medal and finisher t-shirts in sensible sizes both pluses too!
Overall, I picked Brighton as London was full and a slightly smaller race looked a good bet for a first time run. Definitely the right decision. I'll still look to do London at some point for the experience (and because people always assume that's the mid-April marathon you're running) but it will have to be good to match the standards set by Brighton.

In short: Really enjoyable first marathon experience with few flaws
In full: I really enjoyed my first Marathon here, though it was mainly I feel from the Marathon experience itself.

I do not have anything to compare against at this distance and race of this size but other races of shorter distance.

Organisation on the day was brilliant. Marshall's were very supportive and things did run smoothly with lots of fueling stations. I had a problem before race day though. I think race packs should have been sent out to charity runners. I did not received any email telling me that they would have to be collected at the exhibition in the preceding 2 days which would have been inconvenient for me. Luckily they agreed to have it for me on the day. My starting coral band was incorrect putting me at the back when I should have been near the front. I think this may have been due to me registering on the last day though.

Miles 20-24 were very dull and I think went past sewage works but the support and finishing 2 miles were great (if very hard).

In short: Brighton Knows how to run a Marathon!
In full: 2nd time running at Brighton, course updates improved the course no end! I have been converted by the water pouches, as once you had got the hang of it it worked fine! lots more cliff shot bloc stations that were still stocked for the 5hr+ runners, and lots of powerade. Really enjoyed this race, the support is amazing and the volunteers are so cheery! Did feel that they had scrimped on some aspects of the race this year though, including not printing out race booklets, medals without the Brighton marathon logo of the strap etc, but overall couldn't detract from the experience. Also a brilliant idea to hold the marathon seminar talks in Oct/Jan.

In short: A great first marathon
In full: Brighton 2012 was my first marathon, and I was really impressed by the overall organisation; plenty of supportive emails, no queues at the expo, fantastic support from crowds and marshalls on the day, a really lovely route which was challenging but incredibly scenic.

The only drawbacks were that some of the mile markers were missing (or on the wrong side of the road) the Road to Hell (especially at mile 22 when the smell from the sewage overcomes you!), the water pouches (which took a bit of getting used to) and the fact that there were only three single-deckers taking people back to the Mill Road P&R (yet a whole fleet to the unis) We queued for over an hour for a bus in the cold, not great when you've just run 26 miles.

Other than those small things, which didn't ruin the day, a brilliant event - would definitely do it again.

In short: party atmosphere and lots of support-great race.
In full: My first brighton marathon and thought it was amazing! The support was brilliant although agree miles 20-22 were the toughest.Only small complaint-had to go a long way past the finish before being able to get back up the stairs to the road.Would definitely do again and think it rivals London for atmosphere and pb potential.

In short: Brilliant for the first timer
In full: This was my first marathon and the pinnacle of my first years running. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, despite the inevitable pain! The organisation was first rate, everything went very smoothly and I was amazed at the support given by the Brighton locals. A definite recommendation for those looking to complete their first 26.2.

In short: Great Race, Great Support and Well organised
In full: This is my 3rd in 3 years and achieved best time this year. Brighton came out and supported again and organisation was great. Organisers seemed to have arranged more Powerade, Gell and Block stops and water was in pouches (not cups) much better. Overall great day.

In short: Great race, awesome crowd, lovely scenery, fantastic experience
In full: I will never forget this race. My first ever marathon and I ran with a smile on my face. The excellent support carries you along through lovely parts of Brighton and stunning views over the cliffs and sea. It seems to attract really friendly runners too and I met loads of people to chat to along the way.
Highly recommend it.
