In short: Enjoyable In full: For a race of its size, Reading runs well (ho, ho!). Getting to the start from the stadium/race 'HQ' is a bit slow, but they warn you about this so it's just one of those things. Water stations were sufficient and well-manned. 2 lucozade stations a nice touch for those of us using Reading as a marathon warm-up. For the most part, crowd support is good, but a band or similar along the A33 Relief Road would help - it is as exciting as its name would suggest ;) Your view on PB potential will depend on whether you come from the Fens or somewhere a bit more hilly; to my mind it's a fast course with only 1 or 2 short climbs which shouldn't upset your rhythm too much. For anyone (but especially a life long Royals' fan) the stadium finish is a nice touch. The roar from the crowd makes you smile! Reading 2002 was my first half marathon and the race has come along significantly since then. Date of review: March 23, 2010

In short: Third time I've done it, and I'll definitely be back. In full: I'm always impressed with just how well organised this race is. It's fairly pricey, but I still feel I'm getting value for money. Well stewarded and brilliantly supported - organisers of less well-done big events could learn a lot here (the guys who ran Brighton last month might like to have a chat, for instance). Great race, all the way from the very well organised starting pens to the video of me crossing the finish line looking utterly spent. Date of review: March 23, 2010

In short: Excellent organisation but .... In full: Really enjoyed this half, my 5th in the last six years. It just gets bigger and better. I thought the town centre tweak worked quite well.
A big thanks to the 1:40 pacer, he and my lucozade time strap got me home in just under my target time.
Generally the organisation was superb but my only complaint was that it took well over 10 minutes to get my bag from the 6000+ tent; I could have dome without that standing around and really stiffened up (I am mid 50s!!). There were no queues at the <6000 tent and a bit of common sense management would have had a few chaps move over to help out with whatever was wrong.
That aside, a super race, many thanks Reading. Date of review: March 23, 2010
