In short: Yet again a great day out..Wasn't feeling 100% and did make hard work of this one, but it's a great run. I hope it can survive the problems that killed off the marathon.

In short: Excellent half for first timers
In full: This was an excellent race for my first half marathon, incredibly friendly people, lots of loos, gorgeous scenery. If only my atomach hadn't cramped at mile 8, might have been due ti slight uphill didn';t really feel it. Very flat, although I found it tougher than my previous 13 milers, that was probably due to running slightly faster!!! Great race, pretty medal and enough things to keep spectators entertained. Ill be there next year!!!

In short: With most miles downhill this is an excellent first half.
In full: Trees, the lake, waterfalls and shade most of the way made this a great run and one I will definately be coming back to next year.

My only gripe is with runners who discard plastic waer bottles down the slopes to the lake - they weigh virtually nothing empty so carry them with you and leave them at the next water station.

In short: Good PB potential
In full: ...but beginners watch the first mile as it's all uphill (bonus is that the last mile is mainly downhill, but by then my knees were shot !).Personally could have done with an extra water station out on the course at around mile 12,and it's a bit narrow in places to try and pass people who insist on running 6 abreast.Apart from that it's a great day out - well done to all who finished and are sat at home polishing their medals !

In short: Great - marshalls, organisers, helpers, course, scenery. I'd take this over the GNR any day.

In short: One lap of the Reservoir in Glorious Wales
In full: After a small hill in mile one it is downhill to Mile 7.5, whereupon as logic would dictate it is uphill to mile 12. Apart from miles 1&13 all the decent and climbing is either gradual or grinding depending which way you are going. A fast-ish course but not as much of a PB course as many seem to think. Superb atmosphere, superb views and location. Moreover, to anyone who reckons there weren’t enough toilets or showers this was luxury compared to many races I have been to. To have showers at all is a miracle !

In short: Extremely scenic, flat race which made a great first-ever half marathon for me. The only negative was the very insubstantial provision of toilet and shower facilities for women. The men seemed okay!
