In short: quite tough but scenic 10 miler
In full: great end of year race with good organisation. Course is tougher than you think. The only glitch this year is that the 5 & 6 mile marks seemed to be slightly out - 7.16 for mile 5 followed by 5.46 for mile 6 - I think not...

In short: Enjoyable undulating town and country run
In full: Firstly, many thanks to the large number of marshals that did an excellent job, especially at the narrow bridge and at the main road crossing in the last mile. I quite enjoy hilly routes and so have no issues with the roller coaster profile. Although I did feel a bit like the Grand Old Duke of York when we ran up a hill in mile 2 (Luynes Rise if memory serves me right) only to go round a bollard at the top and run straight back down again!

Without wanting to sound ungrateful, to make a good run great, the organisers might want to consider the following for future years: 1) supervised bag storage, 2) a mega-phone for the race starter (I wasn't far from the front but didn't hear a thing), and 3) warm water for the showers (or is it just me being soft?).

In short: Thank you RR - a great end to the year
In full: Race was well organised, and ideal for year end/start of training for FLM. Agree with comments on 5 mile marker, and being there 1 hour prior to start, but that is really just being picky. Would have done PB if hadn't pulled a calf at 7 miles, but hard work in first half is well rewarded with a fast last half!

In short: Great Race
In full: I've done this race regularly over the years and appreciate the efforts you make to continue to put this great race on over the christmas period. Chip timing is an improvement (no doubt eating into your revenue)and marshalling was great all round the course too, BUT please get the basics right and place mile markers acccurately. I'm sure some of these are placed out on the course from memory and the mile 5 marker was definately out of position making a long 5th mile and short 6th.

In short: Cold start but great race once you get going.
In full: Have to agree with others that being there an hour early was a little too long...appreciate the need to collect timing chip but an hour? However, once the race got going despite the uphill slog of the first 5 miles the downhill coast was more than enough to compensate...felt good and managed a PB which for someone who only ever strives to finish in one piece was pretty good. Look forward to doing it all again next year!

In short: Dragging the xmas podge up the hills makes this a challenge. Very well organised.
In full: This course always seems harder than it should coming at the end of the festive period. It felt like hard going until mile 5 for me when my body finally woke up. There are a lot of uphills for the first 5.5 miles, nothing too steep, but it makes you work. It feels good when the gradient gets a little shallower in the last half of the race.

Good organisation, loads of great marshalls, every one of which shouted encouragement. The three ladies just before the mile 9 marker were even doing some kind of dance.

Getting there early and then waiting an hour was a bit of a pain but I appreciate that the organisers wanted to make sure everybody got their chip sorted.

In short: Very pleasant
In full: A very enjoyable run with lots of friendly marshals - thanks. The request to be ready at the HQ 1 hour before the race was excessive for a relatively small race - I could have done without 55 minutes of simply hanging around!

In short: An enjoyable day out! Thanks, Royston Runners.
In full: Challenging (especially those up-up-ups), but not too daunting. Great scenery on rural part and roads were no problem. Housing estate not too great, but the first 2 miles certainly passed quickly. Loads of marshalls - all friendly and very encouraging. Nice goody bag and trophy and excellent refreshments at the end. Toilets not up to much and I never found the showers, but definitely in the calendar for next year. Was it windy? I missed that bit!
