In short: A brilliant race, and don't you believe it, the hills are not as bad as they say!
In full: This was my first time in this race in spite of it being my most local event. There is no doubt that I will be back because of the locality, the scenery, the athmosphere, and, believe it or not, the 2 minutes I stripped off my PB! Even though I've walked in the area many times I was prepared for a scary hill because everybody said so (and the run profile on mapmyrun.com looked stiff too), but don't you believe it, it's no problem! After a boring run round the Reading Half a few weeks ago, this was a real delight. Thank you Swanley Athletic Club!

In short: Picture postcard stuff
In full: Beautiful scenery on this lollop through the Kent countryside. Undulating, but what goes up comes down and the last two miles or so are downhill. Still managed a PB, but first timers may find the hills a bit daunting - there's a short steep one at about 2k then a really challenging hill at 7k that turns your legs to jelly for the next k! Great race all in all and the early start gives you the whole rest of the day to relax.

In short: Fantastic
In full: Great organisation of this event. Not done much training, so struggled a bit up the hill.
Still managed to be within 1 minute of PB, so overall not to unhappy.

In short: This is the only race I have ever returned to and despite the hill I will be back again!
In full: Third time of running this and I know it's never going to be a pb course especially considering all the climbs, the big hill and pretty poor training on my behalf.

Imagine my surprise, delight and sheer bewilderment when not only did I beat last years time, but actually put in a PB by over a minute........"Smashed it" was how I described it, but having calmed down a bit I know that I didn't even really dent it.

Marshalls great (looked a bit cold though) and for me wearing my club vest for the first time, hearing almost every marshall shout out "come on Dartford" really pulled me along.

The route, unchanged, was just as great as I remembered it. I really enjoy this race and it is the only one I have ever repeated. If you haven't tried this really challenging race I suggest you do so next year it is a nice early start which means you still have the whole day to do what you wish with.

A credit to Swanley AC.

See you next year for sure.
