In short: My first marathon, found it very hard going but I will be back!
In full: Scenery was stunning, and organisation was great. I personally found it a very tough run with some absolutely torturous descents at the end. Overall - Loved it!

In short: My first marathon and I found it hard work!
In full: The organisation, scenery and fantastic support from the other runners made it go by much less painfully than might have been the case. With all the discussion on the thread about the nightmarish descent I was a little worried but found it OK - a bonus for training in a hilly part of the world I guess.

My only grumble is that after dragging my sore limbs over the finish line I was told I couldnt have a massage as they were going home. An incentive to run faster next time!

In short: Excellent, Quick Scenic Race
In full: A very enjoyable race, excellent views to take your mind off things, very quick course, can deffinately pick up a couple of mins on those down hill sections( if you`ve any strength left in your legs ).Perfect weather, apart from the downpour just before the start, Great marshalls and plenty of water stops, Good Goody Bag, Just a shame a good quality medal couldn`t of been supplied as im sure people would pay a little bit more !

In short: Beautiful scenery. Well organised. A definite must for a marathoner.
In full: Well organised, friendly race. A beautiful run through the Dales.

The gentle climb for the first 20 odd miles was hardly noticable. The two steep downhill sections in the last six miles caused far greater discomfort.

My only slight complaint was the mile markers. I didn't want them. I would have preferred to lose myself in the run rather than counting the miles.

But a big thank you to Matlock AC for organising the best marathon I have run so far.

In short: Down hill with the wind behind = PB
In full: Actually it isn't that easy. The first 9 miles are uphill (but only just) and the wind was mostly from the side. When you get to the downhill it's quite steep so you need a bit of strength left to make the most of it. But the sun shone (after a slightly cold and wet start) and I got a PB. The mug was a slightly Land Roverish green with yellow writing, but I can drink tea out of it which makes it more use than a medal. I will be back.
