In short: If Carlsberg did Races.... In full: Another great race from the Halstead team. This race is how a medium sized club organised race should be done. It has everything, great HQ, playful course to keep you interested, smooth organisation, some of the best water stations and marshals around, great scenery and good medal, tech shirt and goody bag.
Little to improve upon - apart from that 400 meters of grass at mile 26 :-) Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Fun course, brilliant marshals, fab organisation In full: It's like a mini local carnival everyone comes out to support. I got a 18 minute pb despite the undulating course, so very happy- country lanes mean minimal pollution which is great for the lungs when running for so long! Superb and proud to have such a great race so close to home Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Truly the best event/Marathon going In full: What more could you ask for from £26?? Superb pre event communication, the race day ran like clockwork, plenty of toilets, parking and changing room, excellent atmosphere, with debutants and seasoned pros, everyone is catered for. The course is testing, however that said there is a PB in it, I think. Excellent goody bag, finishers t-shirt and medal. Well done HRR, so proud to be a part of the club Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: All the good stuff you read about this race is true! In full: I've done tons of cycling and running events over the years, but the organisation, marshals and supporters around the course are simply the best. Not a race for PB potential, that said, the scenery is just magnificent. Even passed a house with a large duck pond and duck house....is it the one caught in the MP expenses scandal. Fair play to the AGA men as well....truly inspiring. Well done Halstead...I won't be back only because I'm not built for the distance Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Great run with excellent organisation In full: This is the second time I have run this race today I came away with a PB, so its quick. Great friendly marshals great goodie bag, great t-shirt, I'll be back next year :) Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: friendliest marshals, terrific scenery who needs more! In full: Very well organised indeed. The route was wonderful looping through Essex countryside on very minor roads and lanes. The bloke in front of me nearly got bowled over by a muntjac deer. How often will you ever see that!n Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Glad I picked this for my first In full: Luckily I live local so not far to go. The scenery was beautiful and I didn't find it too hilly..organisation faultless and marshals and spectators alike very encouraging. Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Superb In full: This was my second marathon having done Brighton 4 weeks previously & it was excellent - superb organisation, brilliant scenery, the course is fairly challenging (that's a positive!) It's run mostly on country lanes that are open to traffic but I must have been passed by about 10 cars all day.
Local support excellent, all in all a superb race - I'm proud to say this is my local marathon & will definitely be entering next year! Date of review: May 12, 2013
