In short: Got a pb despite the crowds In full: Well I got a pb, so I'm happy. However it was very crowded, I did elbow a good few people (not intentionally!) and had to slow down to let the fasties pass by the bus station!
An additional water station at 8k, by the river would be very welcome!
Stadium finish is fantastic!
2nd time I've done this and I'll definitely do it again. Date of review: May 23, 2005
In short: very well organised, and enjoyed the stadium finish In full: Really enjoyable race. I thought the organisation was excellent (only gripe was lack of secure baggage area). Some of the paths were a bit narrow, but overall I enjoyed the route. Date of review: May 23, 2005
In short: Will do it again - but then I live in Derby and its a good cause! In full: Started near the front so not held up by Sunday Runners - so avoided the start (and finish) problems of last year. Why not put markers for finish times along the start? Baggage very poor - lacked any security - just found my own bag and was not challenged, nobody checked number on bag against mine which was covered up by the tee-shirt. Not good if you've come any distance without support. Crime prevention!!
Enough of the gripes! - I really do like the Sporting-Futures shirts. Marshalls were very friendly. Atmosphere good. Weather excellent - who said it was too hot!! Date of review: May 22, 2005
In short: One word PHENOMINAL In full: Having been out of the running game for several years I decided to jump back in at the deep end and go for a 10k, I'll just add that I bought the Runners World Guide to Running which is currently in WHSmihts and it was invaluable to my training, anyway the race was excellent, a really good atmosphere, the only flaw was that after completing the race the whole crowd if finishers hit a lot of congestion as we all tried to squeeze through into the area where they were handing out t-shirts and water, the last thing I wanted to do after a 10k was stop dead and go toe to heel like cattle. All in all though a fantastic race and I look forwards to a new PB next year. Date of review: May 22, 2005
In short: My first 10K - I'll be back for more In full: This was the first time I'e ever raced - losing four stone before I felt able to (I was still that fattest one there) but it was fantastic and a 54 minute finsih made me want to come back for more. Date of review: May 22, 2005
