In short: An excellent race, helped by excellent organisation and supeb weathe. In full: A very positive experience. I was impressed by the very practical nature of the race organisation, the helpful marshalling and good support. The quiet efficiency puts many big city races to shame. Well done, Stroud. In short: Lovely race and a lovely day to run In full: I enjoyed this race and managed a PB so it made my day, the scenery was lovely and the Industrial Estate wasn't that bad, I've seen worse, the A38 was a bit scary, trying to get past other runners without getting run over at the same time was a bit hairy. Thanks to all the marshals and supporters who came out on such a lovely crisp day. The only gripe I have is that I finished in time to get a bottle of water but my friend didn't which after 13.1 miles is not good enough, surely the organizers knew in advance how many would be participating??? Well worth doing again. Date of review: October 23, 2007

In short: Probably not bad for a first half marathon. At least I finished. Date of review: October 23, 2007

In short: OK, but not great... In full: The lovely sunny morning made the scenic first half of the course all the more enjoyable, but it couldn't do much to enhance the last five miles of busy roads and industrial estate. Nor is the course as flat and fast as it claims. Drinks stations are very oddly spaced at 5, 9 and 11(possibly due to afore-mentioned busy roads). And while I don't need to add to my stock of T-shirts, mugs and medals, I'd expect a bit more for the high-ish entry fee. Less emphasis on big cash prizes at the top end of the field perhaps? On a positive note, well marshalled and good local support. An OK run, but I won't be rushing back for more. Date of review: October 23, 2007

In short: Mostly nice course and well organised In full: Enjoyable race with some nice scenery and well marshalled - weather helped a lot ! As others have mentioned not what you would call hilly but definitely not flat either. Finished not long after midday and could not find any water which was annoying. Date of review: October 23, 2007

In short: Ideal weather and good for a first-timer In full: My fast half-marathon so luckily the weather was perfect. The marshalls were on the whole cheery and encouraging but some seemed disinterested towards the end - I had to ask which way to go! - and I wasn't right at the back at 2 hours 10. The course isn't flat but the incline on the A38 wasn't all that steep so all in all gently undulating. Could easily have been more portaloos - how much does it cost to hire a few more ??!- especially as the programme specifically mentioned not upsetting the neighbours with impromptu use of bushes! - always a real nuisance for girls at any public event though so shouldn't have been surprised. Really cheery announcer at the end encouraged everyone through to the end. A really enjoyable first half experience. Will be back for another go next year Date of review: October 22, 2007

In short: Quick course but not as flat as I'd been given to believe In full: My second sub 1.30 this year. The course was quick overall with a short uphill section around the 4 mile mark and a slog up the A38 between 6 and 7 miles. Dull scenery including a one and a bit mile detour through and industrial estate and into Stroud competing with vehicles on the A road. A couple more drinks stations would have been nice. Overall I'd probably do this one again. Date of review: October 22, 2007

In short: Another well organised Stroud Half In full: Apart from the confusion over whether the race numbers and chips would be posted out due to the mail strike (which could have been cleared up with a note on the website) it was a very well organised race. It was a crisp clear day at the start of the race and it only warmed up 3 or 4 degrees throughout the duration, making it ideal conditions for running. The circular course is slightly undulating with only a couple of small hills so it is quite a good race for attacking your PB which I managed to do by bettering my own time by 7 minutes. Organisation by the Stroud & District AC was as good as it was last year and the course is quite pretty except for a short stint along the A38 and a brief but unfortunate loop around an industrial estate near the end of the race. Overall a highly recommended race, I'll be back next year. Date of review: October 22, 2007

In short: Sunshine and smiley marshalls In full: Brilliant organisation (toilets are always too popular!), beautiful sunny day, friendly marshalls and better-than-most race t-shirt. A lovely rural fun run with very good finish commentary from the large chap on a lorry at the end! Date of review: October 22, 2007
