In short: Great 10k course along undulating country lanes. In full: Really loved this route and undulations were perfect for me. Very well organised, well marshalled and friendly race with good mix of club and non-club runners. Very good value for money too. Only complain was the heat!! Well done St Albans Striders. Will definately be back next year to do this unless you fancy running the race again in the autumn when it is cooler in which case I will be back then! Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Hot and hilly In full: A challenging hilly course on minor roads, which apart from the start and finish was fairly traffic free. Only the congested narrow start was frustrating with a least one faller - I know because she fell into me. Other than that it was well organised and friendly with a neat memento for finishing. In short: Superb event & well organised. Thankyou Striders. In full: Start is tight. With the difficulty in obtaining permission for road races, let alone road closures perhaps this will be something more races have to do. UKA RRLG note we need help out here!! Date of review: June 6, 2007
In short: A good way to spend a Sunday Morning In full: My first race since FLM, have done the course before so know it is a very nice one, a few hills, nothing too bad, makes for a more interesting course, very well marshaled indeed, there were loads out and all were encouraging and handling the traffic well on those narrow country roads.
My only niggle is the start and finish area, to be fair there isn’t a lot that the organisers can do about it, it is just that the path is very narrow, and it wasn’t a good start when you have to walk the first few yards before being able to run, and a lady did fall over – hope your ok, the scenic routes once your passed that part is worth it, maybe next time they could get the adjacent road closed for ten minutes and then we would have enough space to start running from the outset.
In short: Great for a first-timer In full: My first race of any distance. Enjoyable course and everything was well-marked and marshalled. The start was very tight - especially if (like me) you have never run in a large group before. Very relaxed atmosphere and good range of ages and abilities. Date of review: May 22, 2007
In short: Why promote a run saying a medal & a goody bag when all that was given was a key ring!!!!! In full: Good weather and lots of marshalls made this a pleasant jog around the outskirts of St Albans but toilets being 15 mins away and not signposted meant that everyone needed a friendly tree to hide behind!!! Last year's medal was cheap and cheerful but this year's key ring was a real disappointment!!! Come on St Albans Striders!!!!! Date of review: May 21, 2007
