In short: A largely traffic free & friendly run In full: First time I'd done this run & thoroughly enjoyed it. A fast flatish run with one incline of note. Largely traffic free as well. The starter did mention the mile markers were a rough guide but a few were very rough! So I was glad I had my Garmin with me. And after all the debate I'd noticed in the forum it was spot on for distance. Nice that they remembered a minute's silence at the start for Remembrance Sunday. A big thank you to the organisers and all the marshalls/ helpers Date of review: November 9, 2008
In short: My 1st half marathon and was pleased with my time of a few seconds over 2 hours. Hailstones & the mile marker inaccuracies were challenging but felt a real buzz at the end and enjoyed the best cup of tea in a styrofoam cup ever! Date of review: November 9, 2008
In short: Broke my PB after 5 years (despite the mile markers) so whoopee!! In full: Flat course, friendly and good organisation , except for the mile markers, so well done. Weather a lot better than the expected gales. From the mile markers, I thought I was very slow until mile 12, when I found I was in line for a PB and took off to the end. Great day. I'll be back. In short: Unpleasant weather - pleasant run. In full: Got a pb of 2:00:22, but oh those 22 seconds. Must be the only person who was totally dejected after smashing his previous pb! Well enough organised race, but thank goodness I have a Garmin and heard the mile marker info at the start, otherwise I would have been badly thrown. One marker was over a mile out! Good facilities though, very friendly people and very much pb potential as its virtually flat except for those one rogue hill around 9 miles. Hope the injured lady walking back in the marshals bib was ok.
In short: nearly traffic free, good atmosphere, quick run In full: Surprisingly nice run along river banks, and accross the milenium bridge in Lancaster. I struggled a bit in the 'wind tunnell' that seemed to be the first 5 miles. The hail storm at mile 9 was not welcome either, and it was a tad cold, so conditions not great. The mile markers inaccuracies was irritating as I thought I was having an extremely poor race and thought I'll just enjoy the run, when suddenly I seemed to be very close to home. it made it very difficult to pace yourself. I didn't get my PB despite the lack of hills- but I'll be back next year Date of review: November 9, 2008
In short: Excellent race. Definate PB material. In full: 1st time I have run this 1/2 and I can guarantee it won't be the last.
Nice route taking in both urban and rural settings, very friendly marshalls (thanks for all the support)!!!
One small negative, not overjoyed at how the final mile and a half was laid out? Seemed to take forever to complete. (to echo other comments) maybe this could hve been swallowed up elsewhere on the route???? However, don't let that put you off.
Nice medal at completion and managed to 'shatter' my PB!!!! Date of review: October 23, 2007
