In short: OK run, worth doing but could be better organised
In full: Nice, friendly run with multiple distance options. Too much road for a trail marathon. A few easyish hills. Countryside scenary and castle lovely. Too long (1hr plus) between 2 drinks stations. Very few distance markers

In short: So sore!!!!
In full: A brilliant event, lots of changing scenery, checkpoint marshalls were great and fab weather but ouch do I hurt today. I have pulled muscles where I didn't know I could pull but it all adds to the acheivement. My 2 springer spaniels took part and are now collapse in a heap, a rare sight, bliss!! Only one negative, litter droppers should be ashamed of themselves!!!

In short: Great off road marathon
In full: Liked the event but it was a hot day. No issues with the signs as a marathon runner anyway it was a trail marathon and we had a map/instructions. My advice would be stick to running road races. After all it was a charity event and when it first started was aimed at walkers. I remember taking part a few years ago when the course was more walkers and hardly any signs!! Us runners just took over. Great friendly event with good support. Great start point with snacks, drinks, showers, toilets etc.Parking facilities really good. Took me longer than average this year as the heat became a bit much! Anyway well done to the fire service and organisors, st Johns etc. I don't know any event that provides all the services of this event with chip times for the price.

In short: Watch out for runners!
In full: As a beginner (doing a 10k walk) I was a little unsure when I could begin my event as I wasn't informed when registering at the start. My info pack said 10k walk 10-10.30 and I wasn't sure if I had to wait for the other walkers. However, after a little asking around I was informed I could start anytime during this time. I was glad I didn't have to wait around.
The course was good however I felt that some of the runners felt that just because I was walking I wasn't partaking in the event to the same degree as them. Although I moved to ensure them plenty of room to pass I was still made to feel like I was in the way. I wish some of the route had been wider.
Overall an enjoyable event.

In full: this is my first marathon & the route became guess work rather too frequently as runners spread out. i would have enjoyed it being more regular in the last legs especially where I didn't want to be thinking at all beyond the run at hand. otherwise I would recommend this to more experienced runners looking for something unique, or challenging. coming from flat bedfordshire the hills were far greater than I imagined & retrospectively this experience taught me a lot of hard lessons that about pacing.
