In short: Faultlessly organised
In full: The course takes you to some varied scenery - through the town centre, along a valley with impressive water mills, around a hill top surrounded by fields. Excellent local support with a band at one point en route. Fun run for the rest of the family and a few stalls for them to look in case that isn't enough.

I was particularly impressed by the marshal who ran out to meet the last few people in and encouraged them through to the finish line. It can be miserable finishing as other people are going home so letting them know they hadn't been forgotten was superb.

In short: Brilliantly organized, superbly friendly.
In full: Reading some of these reviews, the organizers must despair. What WOULD make these whingers happy ? Champagne every half-mile and the whole of Nottinghamshire ordered out of their houses to cheer them on ? This was an exceptionally well-organized race in every way and the marshalls and helpers were outstandingly helpful and friendly.

In short: HOT! and lots of up and down, but the course is surprisingly rural and really quite pretty in places. Regular water stations very welcome. With the notable excption of the pub at 6 miles, spectators were rubbish!

In short: a tough race but nice scenary
In full: A good race, well organised, cheery commentry at the finish. Due to the really hot weather could have been more water stations.
The drink in the goody bag was most welcome and so was the banana.

In short: Hot and mostly uphill but excellent organisation and facilities
In full: I love the Mansfield half - there's just such a great atmosphere and the facilities are really good (showers, bag storage, plenty of toilets etc). On the downside it's almost always very hot - it was baking last sunday - so you need to wear sun block if you're fair-skinned like me and take plenty of fluids. Also, don't know how they manage it, but I swear 11 miles of the course are uphill! Even so I managed a pb this year - so I'm happy.

The only thing they could do better is make the start a little clearer. You rely on people in the know to work out where to line up!

I'd definitely recommend this race.

In short: very very hot
In full: My first race over any distance (so I got a PB!) Seemed extremely well organised, marshalls in all the right places and just enough water stations. The hills were either not steep or not long so weren't as bad as I imagined before hand. Crowd were encouraging at the end, and thanks to the man with the hosepipe sprinkler and the noisy band at the stage where I was suffering most and needed perking up.
Only bad thing was being overtaken in the last 100m by a bloke wearing a padded dress and stockings who didn't seem to be trying very hard.
