In short: Well organised run on quiet lanes with pleasant scenery
In full: Given the slightly congested first half mile it would be lovely to have had full chip timing rather than gun to chip, but this minor issue did not affect the enjoyment of an extremely well organised event held on quiet Hertfordshire lanes. The scenery was good, the hills were well spaced and not too challenging and the marshals gave excellent support. I'll be back next year.

In short: Challenging, hilly race, but well organised, except for the start
In full: This is my first time doing this race, and I must admit it's probably the hilliest I've done (although I've only been running for 18 months). It was very tiring but quite useful as a training run for longer races (I live in a very flat area).

The race was generally well organised and blessed with an abundance of friendly and encouraging marshalls, making up for the relative lack of spectators. However, the start was a bit confusing and I lost a few seconds through not understanding that it was a gun start only rather than going over a mat as is the case in many other races. This should have been explained.

Apart from that a hard, challenging but friendly race that I would definitely consider doing again.

In short: undulating opportunity to tune up for longder spring races
In full: Basically a cut and paste mix-up of the St Albans Half minus the run through Verulamium.

Nice not to run the lanes in 30 degree+ heat which is a feature of its longer distance cousin each summer.

A clubby, fast(ish) field but the new route races a bit slower than the old flat course run on the Hatfield side of town.

A couple of sharp hills to sort the wheat from the chaff in the last few miles.

In short: Another good Fred Hughes.
In full: Excellent race as always and great support from the marshalls. I agree with the other comments however, the start does let down what over all is an excellent race
