In short: Very well run race in an excellent location
In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this well organised race. Very good for runners of all abilities.Marshalls were a real credit to the day. I followed Runners World sub 2 hour training schedule and did 1.53!

In short: great organisation, dull scenery, not my day
In full: really well organised - picking chip up on the day went like clockwork and the whole route was well marshalled and signed. route was a bit overcrowded at first but soon spread out. multiple loops around the airfield were very dull but quite fast. should have been perfect race for a pb - just not my day. if it were local i'd definitely do it again.

In short: My first half, and a great way to get started!
In full: Congratulations to GRR and all the marshalls for a great effort. It is amazing how the odd witty comment from a supporter can spur you on for another mile or so! The Samba Band were superb, and plonked in a great position where I could take my mind off a brisk cold breeze running aross the airfield!
Top goodie bag - especially the cake! Well done to whoever baked 2,000 of those!
Wish I had known about the massage, as my legs hurt like hell now!

In full: Great to run on a course without steep hills. Well organised. Band was great and enough encouragement from stewards and public on a cold day. A bit congested when running on the paths (too many runners for running on paths wide enough for 2-3 runners?) - had to run on the road quite a bit to overtake as I was doing a -ve split, so airfield sections were great for running at my chosen pace plus plenty of room for good water stations. Not there for the scenery but wasn't boring!

Pre & post massages were great. Long queues for main loos just before race - much shorter in changing rooms. My 1st "half" - hope to be back next year!

In short: Flat, fast course. Great end of year opportunity to lower your PB.
In full: A very flat and fast course. Most of the people I heard talking at the end had lowered their PBs, and I managed to take 5 mins off mine! Good facilities, marshals, and atmosphere. There were pockets of spectators around the course which was good for a chilly Sunday morning. The scenery isn't the best, but running a mile along the beach towards the end certainly made up for the 4 miles spent in the old Royal Navy base!
It's the first time I have done this race, and I will certainly be doing this again next year.
I would recommend this race.

In short: Fast and flat
In full: Fantastic organisation and well marshalled throughout the course. A great fast and flat course. The weather was perfect for running, and I would imagine yesterday's event will have seen PB's for a lot of runners.

I found the scenary, expecially around the airfield, eerily insteresting and inspiring. Not sure what that says about me! Running along the shoreline with views of the Isle of Wight and the boats certainly helped lift the spirits on the last couple of miles. So for me, there was plenty to look at during the race.

Well done to the samba band and to the PC who was joining in (no doubt he will now be reprimanded by some kill-joy!) - the music lifted the spirits at crucial times. Thanks also to the kids giving out wine gums and to the kids who were giving out high fives (hand slaps not gels) near the end - it was great to see all runners make a bee line towards them. Spectators don't often get enough thanks for bothering to turn out and cheer on strangers so, for the record, "Thanks".

The end came as both a relief and, more importantly, a pleasant surprise! I imagined having to run to the school where the fun run finish arch was and where we picked up timing chips. So to suddenly see the "real" finish earlier than expected was a real bonus. Removal of chips, handing out of goody bags all went smoothly.

Yes, car park was a little slow to get out of but do what we did - take a flask of coffee, sit back and back in the glow of PB's and hope that back home someone is sorting out the Sunday Roast.

All in all, a great race and I guess it's horses for courses regarding the scenary. Personally I thought it made an interesting change from the south Oxfordshire countryside I normally run around.

I look forward to coming back next year.

In short: Great organisation, encouraging marshalls and a good flat course
In full: This was the first time I'd run the Gosport 1/2 and I was glad I did. I arrived early (8:30am) and parked on the land on Brownhill Road. Parking was £1 so a bargain. Race registration was at the local school and well organised. As well as chip collection, there were sports massage facilities, baggage storage, refreshments and several toilets. Close to race start time, the queues for the toilets were long so don't get there too late.

It was a short walk to the start line where signs grouped runners by expected finish time.

The start of the race was delayed by about 5 minutes due to an issue with closing the road. Then we were off.

The course is flat and although not that picturesque, it was interesting. The laps of the airfield weren't too discouraging.

The marshals were very encouraging and did a great job of traffic management etc.

I PB'd which I'm pleased about. A combination of a flat course and good pacing!

Post race, the goody bag and medal were good. Medals could be engraved for a small fee (£4 I think).

The baggage reclaim was very busy (make sure you get in the right queue!)

The only negative was getting out of Gosport. The exit to the carpark was congested and this delayed leaving considerably. In fact, I'd say it was more difficult leaving than it was the GSR this year.

Will definitely be back next year!

In short: PB - so very happy!
In full: I found the airfield interesting .. its actually quite historical (my Dad used to work there!). I also enjoyed the derelict Hover Speed (I remember feeling very sick on one!) and the Prom was nice to run along the water's edge.

In short: Really enjoyable - definitely be back in 2011
In full: Good facilities and a flat well marked course so really enjoyed myself. Marshalls and the Steel Band both played their part with enthusiasm! Congratulations Gosport! Only disappointment was that by the time I'd showered and changed, you'd sold out of t-shirts :(
