In short: Very well organised and friendly with excellent spectator support. Interesting and challenging course but worth the effort to indulge in the delicious cakes at the finish !

In short: A good mixture of off road and on road. A good loop in the last mile for spectators to cheer you on then get to the finish to cheer you on again.

In short: great, excellent organisation, perhaps more hilly than undulating?
In full: This was my first ever race and had been warned that it is rather hilly, more so than what i personally would call undulating. The course bottle necked in 3 or 4 places which slowed my time a little. I also found it difficult to pass others along several of the tracks, but no doubt many other cross country races are the same. It was very well organized and the stewards were fantastic, very encouraging. Will definitely do it again next year all being well.

In short: Great run, but needs a rethink
In full: I have run this every year now, and there's so much to like. From the ease of access to the no-nonsense starting gun (some race starts can really drag!).

The route is pretty reasonable to run around. Fair bit of woodland with a bit of road. Personally, I'm never bothered about what's around me, more about the inclines I'm facing, and this is certainly not flat. However, I think a few might surprise themsleves with a good time if their legs are strong enough.

This year, they introduced timing pens which is great to see. Unfortunately people generally don't have much of an idea of what time they can do so usually get in the wrong (quicker) pen. I ran it with my father-in-law this year. And despite the timing pens, it got very clogged up at the back. This race has seen a steady increase in runners, and I think the railway bridge should be moved a little later. I would say we were waiting nearly a minute just to get to the bottom of the steps. I'm no expert, but more thinning out is needed before we get there.

But this is fine tuning. In fairness, the organisers get better every year, and I'm sure they'll learn from this and improve again. I will definitely be getting my application form in in good time. The fact that this race was so well attended when it was on the same day as the Royal Parks says it all... But it also says they need to watch out for a large influx next year!
