In short: Good mix of terrain, slick organisation and a challenging race In full: 14 miles of a variety of terrain, some road, mostly trail, cross fields, woodland tracks and rough footways. Challneging ascents with both short sharp hills and some long drawn out climbs.
Could have used one more water station around mile 8, and the narrow track ascent near the start was basically a queue. But these are minor points.
Great scenery and a really friendly atmosphere.

In short: If you like trail runs with a bit of a sting then this is for you. In full: This was my first trail run and I can see why so many people enjoy it. Some nice views in places but most of the route through woods which is a good plan for a summers day (even if the weather is not particulalry summery). Good organisation and friendly marshals with a nice medal at the end; made having to walk up some of the hills worth it. Date of review: August 4, 2008

In short: steep hills and absolutely beautiful scenery In full: Very hard hills, everybody walking up in one line. All surfaces included: mud, sand, rocks, woodland, roads, water, pebbbles certainly multi terrain!! Outstanding beauty, no doubts. The shower situation was interesting - only one shared between everybody and just a few drops coming through. Altogether wonderful experience - very hard race. Date of review: August 4, 2008

In short: Challenging trail race in lovely countryside In full: Very well marked and marshalled course. Water stations were numerous and well spread; Thoroughly enjoyed the course, but struggled towards the end. Pleasant atmosphere too! On weather front today: too humid for my liking! I hope to run it again in the future! Thanks to the organisers :-) Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: a good tough race, shame the course has changed and now run in reverse as it seems all uphill now - good fun tho Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: Strenuous, but good fun. In full: Thanks to: the lady who pushed me up the slippery slope; Kate (from Liverpool) who kept me going up the final hills ! Good: lots of water stations; friendly. Needed: a few more signs/marshalls; a route map/description (in advance) on the web. Overall: I would recommend it.

In short: Hills, heat, humidity - it had it all! In full: I expected a tough trail race and I certainly got it with this race. Never seemed to get into my stride - where were the flat bits!! Very well organised - the best race so far on this front. The humidity and the heat cost me my time but I'll hopefully beat the 2hrs+ next year. Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: I had a fantastic run - thank you! In full: The route was well signed, and very challenging. Everytime I started struggling another cheering marshall appeared. They did an excellent job and I can't thank you all enough for helping me round. They all knew exactly which mile marker they were near and had a good knowledge of what was coming up, which I think is essential. Thanks also to the lovely Liss Runner who came running over to me with water as I came out of the finish area looking a little wobbly. I was shockingly slow, but I had a great run through beautiful quiet countryside. Definitely one to do again. Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: A hard race In full: Much harder than last year, not because there was no sun either. Felt like a sauna for the first few miles, definitely had the wrong top on!! More steep hills which caused many bottle necks when people stopped to walk. Those who wanted to run could not, which probably contributed to the slower times this year. I was 19 minutes slower!!
