In short: fast flat race in lovely spring sunshine! In full: i'm not sure why people are getting so het up about the water. the cups were there with people filling up. i actually brought my own bottle because you don't want to have to wait every 3 miles to remove your thirst. sure the first drink stop was busy, but that's the early stage of the race. for a long race like this, people should take responsibility for their own hydration, rather than solely relying on the drinks stations. as for no start or finish signs. at the start people had started congregating at the middle of the green where the ambulances and other administrative stuff was. the finish was obvious too, when getting to the rype at the end of the race, all you had to do was look across the green and see all the people gathered there, as well as just following the person in front. i think it was a small friendly run, which coupled with the spring sunshine and village green atmosphere made for a good race overall. i'll do it again next year. In short: Great PB potential In full: Super, flat course makes it a real chance for a fast time. Reiterate the comments re the lack of toilets and lack of water at first couple of stations, but if the organisers can get these points right then this would be a great race. In short: could be good, organisation let it down In full: Unmarked start and finish point and no clock? should have been chipped race as flat and good for recording your PB... Water stations were a real let down, not enough people or WATER????? at one station a young man was helping his mum (assumption) and was doing a great job trying to get the water out to the runners. Nice Work! Toilets... A nightmare!
In short: Really good course, just needs a couple of tweaks In full: Really good, flat, scenic course. Marshalling and signs all good. But I do agree with other comments that a few extra loos and sorting out the water problems would make a big improvement. Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: This race is attractive as it is possibly the fastest course in the South East. In full: This race is attractive as it is possibly the fastest course in the South East. PBs are the order of the day here. The event has a village green and community feel to it which is great. Parking is easy and very convenient. If the organisers can get at least double the people on the water particularly at mile 3 to make sure they can deal with the volume of runners coming through then I think they will have a great race. But having said that I will turn up next year as the speed of the course sells the race. Anyone concerned may wish to bring their own water supply to be sure of having enough. Thanks Lydd / Nice Work, see you next year. Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: ok - but appalling they run out of water completely at 6 m check and at 3 m the water wasn't ready for us, so we had to go from 3 m to 10 m with no water - ir In full: I guess the frustration was the water - either say it will be there and provide it or say it won't and then we bring our own? In short: for event organisers they need to learn a bit In full: As most people have said the lack of water, as one of the back runners the 1st marshall was still struggling and i didnt even get a quarter of a cup, the 2nd was a full cup but the 3rd was a bit past where i would have like it, although they had loads so i made the most of it.. route to hq should have been better. they needed a start finish line, or even a megaphone so those of us at the back could tell when they started the race and not just see people run off.
howevr it was a nice flat run.
considering Nice-Work organise my clubs 10k (A&D) they did really well there so this was a dissapointment Date of review: March 14, 2010
