In short: Highlight of the running year In full: Superb organisation, beautiful scenery and friendly atmosphere make this the race of the year (closely followed by Brighton). It is a tough race, not just the hills, but very challenging underfoot. And the 10k cutoff time, makes pacing yourself very hard ! I'll be back ! Date of review: October 24, 2011

In short: If you like off-road, hilly, scenic marathons, with brilliant organisation and goodies at the end, this is the race for you! In full: My first time doing this race and loved every minute of it. The organisation is brilliant, the marshals really encouraging, and it's testing but none of the hills are huge. Little things like putting our names on the numbers and having a technical t-shirt and race hat as mementos make this race stand out from lots of other very good off-road marathons out there. In short: Tough out and back! In full: Well organised and well marshalled race. Tricky underfoot with tree roots, loose stones and sticking out stones all covered in Autumn leaves! Great event with some very nice personal touches (t-shirt with all of the competitors and marshalls names on, your name on your race number etc). Maybe a little pricey but still good value! In short: Out & Back Challenge In full: I usually run Beachy Head marathon at this time of year, however, chose to run the Greensand for the first time.
It was not as hilly as I thought, however, the terrain is difficult for speed. Lots of twists, roots, stone & sand.
I am not usually a fan of out & backs, however, the course was interesting enough. Was disappointed that there was only water & jelly babies at each feed station, except the turn when there was a bottle of lucozade. This is unacceptable for a marathon, especially a hard one. Sports drinks, gels & some food eg bananas, chocolate. biscuits should have been available - especially given the price we paid.
Despite the above, the t-shirt & medal were great. Never received a hat. Breakfast was fine (though the food was of the cheap version).
There were less than 180 runners for the marathon & very few slower runners. I normally end up in the first 1/3, however, was in the last 1/3 today. Quality field.
Would I do this race again? Yes. However, this event is not quite as good as Beachy Head yet. Date of review: October 23, 2011

In short: EVERYTHING I expected! In full: Much of my feedback has already been said. For me a really great experience and I'm so chuffed I finished within my targeted time. A special thanks to the Marshalls who were the best and the lovely lady who gave me her hat afterwards - thank you x A fantastic and challenging event with a fab medal, tec t-shirt and race hat. Brilliant! Date of review: October 23, 2011
