In short: back for the 3rd year In full: Lovely run. marshalls and helpers are great with a fun run for the children before and a great BBQ afterwards. The heat was a challenge but great course and ideal distance when training for a half. love the run, love the atmosphere will be back next year! Date of review: June 25, 2006
In short: Glorious! In full: I had a wonderful day at this race, it was my first ever and while it was mainly club runners I was made very welcome indeed and learned a lot. The scenery is beautiful, the locals were out with water which really helped in the heat, and the atmosphere was extremely friendly with lots of families about. Definitely do it if you can. In short: 3rd year it's been run and again great. Now a must in the Midlands race calendar. 'Only' 21 degrees C. this year so plenty of PBs. In full: Again thanks and congrats to Hampton Sports Club for a thoroughly well organised, friendly and enjoyable race. Date of review: June 25, 2006
In short: Thoroughly well organised - mile markers throughout, marshalls doing a great job and water when needed. Nearly traffic free. Good mix of serious running and friendly village atmosphere. Well done again Hampton Tennis Club. In full: A feather in the cap for 'Hampton 2012'!(See "Olympic village lies in a corner of England" - Telegraph 29.12.04).
Scorching last year, sweltering this time, what next? Date of review: June 20, 2005
In short: My fav now for the 2 years its been running In full: Although far too hot - lovely run, well organised and plenty of much needed water and energy drinks. Good to be at the back of the field and still see marshals! Will be back next year Date of review: June 20, 2005
In short: Who's sick idea to stick that hill at 8 mile In full: Good bits - Fantastic medal, one of the friendliest races i have ever been to, very scenic run, very well organised, High five available at water stations, locals joined in the unofficial water stations and hose pipes
Bad bits - The weather (obviously not the organisers fault), inadequate toilets, first aid seemed to be lacking during the race - one lad collapsed at the end and it seemed to take a long time for medics to get to him, personally I suffered from the joggers nipple from about mile 4 and not one marshall I asked had any plasters at hand. Given the extremely hot day we had I think it caught the organisers by surprise - especially with regards to the aerobics session that was set up before the race. No one in their right mind was going to take part given how hot it was.
Overall - adversity has a way of bringing out the worst in any situation - if it hadn't been so bloomin hot I think this had a chance of being one of the best races in the year. The medal was one of the best I have ever had though - thanks for a fab race guys and next time make sure it is not so hot :) Date of review: June 19, 2005
