In short: Good race - wrong distance
In full: I spectated, but talked to many runners at the end who all measured the course at around 13.5 miles.

It always seems to be that races organised by clubs & runners tend to be more accurate over these things than those organised by charities or events companies. The latter must realise that getting the distance right is the most important element of the whole race. Try advertising it next year as a 13.5 mile half marathon and see how many entries you get.

There are people and organisations who can measure race courses properly. Suggest you look them up. I felt very sorry for all those runners who missed out on PBs due to the extra distance; that's thousands of miles of training that have gone to waste for many. Please don't make the mistake of thinking this is a trivial point, or runners will vote with their feet in future years.

In short: Good - for a 13.5mile race.
In full: Surely the most important element of organising a race is to get the course distance right? Yet I, and lots of other runners around me, had clocked over 13.5 miles as we crossed the finish line. I understand this was the case amongst some of the lead runners as well. I feel that months of training have gone to waste - and I've been robbed of a PB. It was a lovely course - but a polite message to the organisers: please realise that the majority of runners are out there to get a good time or beat their PB - we're not just there for a nice day out. "Approximately" 13.1 miles isn't good enough. Really not acceptable - particularly in view of the high entry price.

This is a significant downside to an otherwise well organised race - unless Sussex Beacon can get an accurately measured course next year, I won't be returning.

In short: An enjoyable race, but surely the course could be measured properly? I wasn't the only one whsoe garmin said in excess of 13.5 miles. Shame and really no excuse for poor course measurement.

In full: The race itself was brilliant. The warm up was fun too.
The only worrying thing was people walking infront of the runners during the race. My husband even saw a cyclist crossing the road infront of runners!!
Not sure if the start area was organised very well, you didn't have much room for the queue for the loos, it felt jammed with non runners and runners together.Possibly something to think about for next years race if the number of runners goes up again maybe?

In short: Great race - and a short walk home!
In full: Lovely course and great support.
Too many people starting from the wrong pen means there's a bit of bobbing and weaving to be done for first few miles.

In short: Oh I do like to run beside the seaside....
In full: ...good overall but lack of organisation[signs] at the start meant a lot of runners out of place for their time incl me so bottle necks were a problem in some places for the 1:45 - 2:00 runners.
And was it just me or did we actually run 13.5 miles???
