In short: Hard work on the hills! The last mile and a half was fantastic.

In short: What's a spot of rain when there's a free t-shirt up for grabs?
In full: My first attempt at the Marlow Half Marathon, and what weather! Absolutely torrential and the hills took no prisoners. The marshalls must be saluted for their unwavering enthusiasm and hardy spirit, and the free long-sleeved t-shirt was a lovely touch. Are you listening Reading Half Marathon?!

Although soaked to the core, I perversely enjoyed the event and would like to give it another bash next year to see if my slower-than-usual time was down to the weather, or simply the undulating terrain. The scenery was fantastic and I look forward to appreciating it in it's full glory in 2010...

In short: Great course, great marshalls, moonsoon conditions!
In full: Big thanks to all the marshalls, especially given the conditions. Think that's the first run I've done where every marshall was cheering you on. I did have a moment just after the big hill when I thought why an earth are 1000 people running up and down hills in the pouring rain on a Sunday morning, and more importantly why I'm one of them!! Worth it at the end, PB for me so pretty happy

In short: Wet and hilly but what fun
In full: As the rain was lashing in horizontally, I wondered not for the first time why I couldn't have taken up an indoor hobby, but the course, the marshalls and the fellow runners more than made up for the rather unpleasant conditions. Yes it is hilly in parts, but it only adds to the sense of achievement. Great organisation, great t-shirt (medals only gather dust). Will definitely be back.

In short: And I thought 2008 was tough !!!
In full: Congrats to everyone who slogged it out and finished the race. The conditions were very tough. WELL DONE to the Marshalls too and the supporters who braved the conditions to cheer us home. I knocked 9 minutes off my time here last year, so I'm really pleased - although my calves are in agony this morning.

Cons: What no goodies ? Not even a chocolate bar ?
Pros: Great Marshalls, Great course, Great organisation. The T-shirt is great.

Summary: Are you tough enough for 2010 ?

In short: Wet & wonderful!
In full: Wet, wet, wet - but that's expected for the Marlow Half! Haven't done it for a few years, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Challenging, especially the hill just after 8 miles, but overall not as bad as I'd feared. Great last mile or so downhill - much appreciated.
And the marshalls were just amazing - they did a fantastic job in awful conditions, I wouldn't have liked to be standing around in that weather for that length of time.
Marlow Striders - excellent stuff, looking forward to next year. And I hate to say it, but I actually hope (and expect) it rains again!

In short: Easier for the runners than the Marshals...
In full: Well done to everyone from Marlow Striders who stood out in the lashing rain all morning.
