In short: Well organised - excellent marshalls In full: A tough marathon - the weather was rough - cars with their headlights on at 12.00 noon ! Very friendly marshalls. Only disappointment was the tee shirt - thought it would have been something special as it was 50th year - so no sale to me. Date of review: May 25, 2006
In short: Big big hills, but they add to the challenge. Great organisation, great runners and great supporters (concidering the rain). In full: My first marathon. I don't think I could have picked a harder one - but on the plus side, my next one should be easier!!! Yeah right. Date of review: May 25, 2006
In short: A tough old course with big hills and even bigger rain on the day In full: This was my first marathon and what an introduction. The course is hilly but saves the longest climb to 22 miles. Marshalling was generally very good, friendly and encouraging, although seemed to thin out towards the end; at one point I took a wrong turn until a bloke in a bus shelter put me right! The heavy rain and strong wind on the day made it even tougher although equally added to the tremendous sense of achievement on finishing. Finally, the discounted ferry crossing was a good saving for anyone thinking of doing this in the future. Thanks to all at Ryde Harriers for organising. Date of review: May 25, 2006
In short: Back next year with hopefully some more runners from club. In full: Although this was a tough run and weather was pretty atrocious still managed to run my second quickest marathon. Marshalls were superb and medal was superb.
In short: Testing, hilly course, much traffic for small island! In full: A challenging course with tough hills and even tougher weather. The marshalls were excellent and supportive - many thanks for the Isotonic at mile 24! The only thing that lets it down is the amount of traffic that runners have to contend with. In short: A tough and very wet race. In full: Great value for money. The weather was awful but that made me more determined to finish. Well done to Ryde Harriers and all the marshals who helped out on the day. Strange medal though. Date of review: May 22, 2006
In short: Loads of History but tough In full: Ok the the organisers cannot help the rain and did a very good marshalling job considering the main roads used. The Prize giving was fab with the Guy who won the original marathon in 1957 giving out prizes. It makes a Fab day out for any club. Date of review: May 22, 2006
