In short: HOT HOT HOT... too many folks now but doing it for so many special reasons, love it but think 540000 runners is enough!
In full: It really is one of my favourites due to the atmosphere all the way round and getting to the start early is a must not just for the loo but the fun pre-race banter. I honestly think Great Run Org need to think about the number of people now... the roads at points just can't handle the bottle necks which means PB's are really not possible. Then again, if you're running it for a PB you're probably getting the whole ethos of this race wrong. It's emotional to see all the special reasons people run, walk, waddle, push their way around the course. A brilliant day, I'm hoping the sunburn will fade quicker than the memories!

In short: Very well organised, LOTs of happy friendly people! Too many runners for a serious PB attempt (at least for those of us starting in the back half of the grid) but very enjoyable none the less.

In short: Over-hyped, too expensive, and too slow at the start to make this anything other than a fun run. Not for serious runners .r
In full: Sorry to burst the GNR bubble, but I was quite disappointed by this, especially the price - on a £ per mile basis, this is 3x the cost of London Marathon, and nowhere near as slick. The goody bag is atrocious - no technical t-shirt, few giveaways, and not enough food. I'm pleased I've done it, but I won't be back.

In short: One to do once
In full: Well I have done it. I think my views may be affected by the fact that my time was 5 minutes slower than I wanted. The crowds were great and for someone wanting to experience a big event and not have to run a marathon distance then this is it. Very expensive but the organisation for such a massive event was superb. Disappointed by the T-shirt fussy maybe but cheap grey cotton with not much to shout about on the front. Will never wear it to run in and hardly a fashion statement. Crowded - I did expect that but my mile times were all over the place and I was in Block B. Still glad i did though

In short: Just how hot was it?
In full: Organisation, bar the baggage buses, was superb as always. I forgot my race number, but got another sorted at the expo on Sat without any great drama. Good to see they kept the urinals at the start - so much better for us lads, and helps to keep the ques for the toilets down. Sorry to see St.Johns were so busy, but absolutely fantastic support yet again. Always a pleasure to run. See you next year.

In short: Still buzzing! Great race.
In full: My first half marathon, couldn't of picked a better one. Atmosphere amazing, hard work in the heat though, hills don't bother me I live in Wales! Thank you Newcastle, a must do on your race list. One complaint, wish walkers would keep to the left like they suppose to.

In short: Great event
In full: My third Great North Run and still loving them, even managed a pb by over 5 minutes today compared to previous years so very happy with that and my brilliant finishing position. Not sure why the baggage buses werent at the finish as runners had to wait for their kit for a bit, but apart from that well organised and very well supported by so many brilliant locals, you all did yourselves proud today. Might well be back next year!

In short: Superb apart from the fat controller in charge of baggage busses
In full: Superb race, a bit too hot for a PB today. Fans out in thousands as usual and very helpful. All support staff and bands were superb. Sad to see a few things around the course with the Medics. Hope all was well on the final mile for one guy.

Hopefully back for next year
