In short: Fantastic atmosphere and support.
In full: My first marathon - still can't believe I made it round! Some problems with the start - I was in the correct starting bay but somehow got stuck behind the relay runners, was shepherded around them by the marshals and ended up having to climb over a barricade to get to the starting line! Very hot day and I could have done with more water stations (they're a long way apart when you're slow!), but other than that a really great race. Thanks to the very encouraging marshals, supporters and water-spraying residents over the last few miles. What a godsend!

In short: hot hot hot - but brilliant again!!
In full: very good race, well organised, well supported and well run (until mile 22!!) managed a pb just, only complaint, the horrible marshall at the end who shouted at me for taking two bottles of water, i'd just run a marathon in sweltering heat - could have bopped him!!!!!

In short: Well done Edinburgh! Well organised, scenic and flat. A worthy marathon that should not only survive but flourish. Thanks to all the organisers, marshalls and supporters.
In full: My first marathon. It was HOT and it hurt (still does). No complaints at all with the organisation (just my own lack of preparation and the heat). Good course and nice atmosphere - the supporters who turned up were great as were the marshalls. Deserves more support from local public, business and government alike. This marathon is in it's infancy and with proper support could develop into a truly world class event. Was on for a sub 4 hour until 19 miles when a "wheel or two came off" and the "hirpling" begain- the support and hosepipes were very welcome thereafter. I'll be back...

In short: not planning on ever doing another marathon, but if I did i'd do this again!
In full: Was worried about how things would be on the day after some organisational slip-ups before hand, but everything I experienced on the day was fantastic. I did get mixed up with Relay Runners at start, but other than this it was amazing. thank you so much to everyone involved.

In short: Please sort out the start, otherwise a good day in the sun
In full: Last year I blamed the runners for the problems at the start (it was raining and we all wanted to get rid of our gear at the last minute) but this year there was no such excuse. Were the rerlay runners thick or just plain selfish? and where were the marshalls to direct them to their correct starting position? I also question the mile markers, some seemed way out, in fact there were two at thirteen miles approximately 100 metres apart. For the cost and the aim of the organisers to make this a major event such simple things must be addressed.
That said I hope that the race can continue as Edinburgh is a lovely city and the course is far more scenic than London.

In short: OK race - really needs more support from the public, without relay stations support would only be start & finish
In full: Far to hot for really fats times, the energy drinks were far to close to the water stations & with the hot weather they should have distributed more water stations. Did not appreciate being yelled at by an offical for taking 2 lucozades at the finish, a simple explanation that they had not bought enough for everybody would have been fine.

In short: Everything was ok apart from the start - we got mixed up in the relay runners who shouldn't have been lining up and ended up starting without the big crowd !
In full: VERY DISSAPPOINTED at the start - we queued for our pen and dutifully tried to join the marathon, but got caught up in Relay Runners lining up ! We weren't the only ones and dribs and drabs of us finally got through them to start ! The organisers really should have made sure no relay runners were lining up before every marathon runner had started !

Apart from that it was ok, although the shambolic start kind of spoilt it the whole thing for me !

In short: The weather made it a great day for not doing a marathon.
In full: I was really impressed with how pretty this route was, especially on the other side of tha castle where I hadn't been before. Obviously weather was hot but I do like hot days so I'm not going to complain about that.
As a slower runner, I was a bit dismayed that they ran out of Lucozade at the first Sports drink stop and there was none of the promissed sponges (which I was looking forward too). However, all the other drinks stations looked well stocked when I passed them.
How gutting is it to run past a beach with everuone enjoying themselves to have to run another 6 miles!
I would encourage all to have a go, even if it is the hottest day of the year!
The finish was really nice, a lot better than London in that your friends can actually see you cross the finish line andcome and chat to you straight away.

In short: Great race that would be criminal to see fold, Had a terrible run but the people of Edinburgh were wonderful and a big thank you to all the helpers, marshals and hosepipes in the last few miles
In full: Despite having a mare of a run everything must be done to save this race, the council should look beyond the pounds and think of how much this brings to the city. Yes its expensive but the organisers are trying to break even without a major sponsor, not easy when the road closures cost £120,000 as for the complaints about the expro and collecting your number, the first time I ran London the expro was in a tent at Jubilee gardens, these things take time.

In short: YIPPEEEE
In full: Poor time due to weather , but everything else superb. Loads of water and energy drinks everywhere , fantastic scenery , good atmosphere and great finish. Ended with a 3.52 due to bad cramp but even still best of my 4 marathons to date. Only downside , bit expensive and they definetly should post out your number . Coming up from Bedfordshire made it more difficult to get to expo due to flight times. Definetly do thid one folks !
