In short: Good fast course and atmosphere spoilt by poor organisation
In full: Start far too cramped and chaotic. Km markers couldn't be seen. Opportunities to make money for Help the aged missed, eg refreshments for spectators. Course fast and enjoyable, great course for beginners and PB's, only my second 10k so not to sure how it compares. Main thing, niggles aside I enjoyed it!

In short: Very surprised at lack of water
In full: Chaotic start - why can't it start on Wellington Street which is much wider and into which the race emerged after 100 yards anyway? My GPS measured the route at over 10kms - did anyone else's?

In short: Good for a PB, but poor organisation at the start and tiny km markers.
In full: A larger start area is needed, as there were too many runners piling up at the start. I heard similar things about the finish, but that must have got busy after I came in in 39:50 ;-) Also, it took the starter 5 attempts to get things underway. Bit like the Grand National. A drinks station would have benifitted many of the less experienced runners. Excellent course for speed, and it's fun to see how far along you get before the elite lot come charging (they look like they're sprinting) back the other way. (I managed to get just past Kirkstall leisure centre!)

In short: OK, only second 10k far better than 1st - Harrogate Theatre 10k!
In full: I enjoyed the race, 2nd one to date, and took 5mins of my 1st race time (Harrogate Theatre 10k). Problem with cars as near the back and the road was open after a while which meant running in the cycle lane and at one point on about a foot of cracked pavement. Could have done with a water station at the Abbey and would have been nice to know where to start as you couldn't hear any announcements or even the gun if you were not right at the front. The start line was round a corner. Other than that enjoyed the race. Sarah

In short: Could do better...
In full: My thoughts really only echo the shambles of a start and the lack of water points. This is a big event and it could learn some quick lessons from smaller events.

In short: difficult start but fast course
In full: echoing what loads of people have been saying about the start. stood next to the only pace marker i could see (35-40) and spent most of the race overtaking and finished in just under 45. Can't blame the people ahead of me as there didn't appear to be anyone telling people where to go. Street was pretty cramped and didn't actually start running until after the start line! Also felt a bit sorry for the people at the back of the race as they seemed to be being pushed into the cycle lane so cars could get past, must have been pretty tough. i live in the area and didn't see any signs as to the road closures, the drivers sat waiting looked pretty annoyed. didn't see many km markers either. fast course though.
