In short: Fantastic. Hats off the VLM and St John's In full: Really happy with it all, last ran in 97, so remember parts of the course. Can't say enough for the St John's. Only used once for a quick rub, but the work they put in was fantastic. Date of review: April 18, 2011

In short: Another good race, but tough in the heat In full: The weather was great for the crowds, not so good for running and I suffered later on in the race (as did a lot of others). Organisation was smooth as ever, though I wonder if one of the mile markers was a bit out - my 6th and 7th mile splits didn't look right at all. Baggage reclaim was a bit more of a scrum than when I've run before, because all the Fast Good For Age runners have their bags on the same lorry and finish at a similar time - but I don't think there's much that can be done about that. In short: An immense day from start to finish In full: This is my third marathon after Tresco (2007) and Edinburgh (2010), and I loved it.
The organisation was tremendous from the moment you arrived in Blackheath, to the minute you re-entered the real world in Horseguards. Top marks to Virgin and the whole London Marathon team, they know exactly what they're doing!
The best bit was crowds. Its the first time I've run with my name on my shirt, and wish I'd done this before. Thank you London. Date of review: April 18, 2011

In short: First Marathon In full: I would not run this again simply because my aim was to run one marathon and it had to be London. It has taken me 5 years to get into the ballot. I wil never forget 17.4.2011. From the start to crossing the finishing line I had one of the best experiences of my life. I trained hard and in the heat and for me, it paid off. I kept a steady pace, took a drink when ever it was offered and was mindful of my own capabilities. I was aiming for a sub 5 hour but crossed in 5 hrs 8 mins - I am not disappointed I am delighted at this. Thank you to everyone that cheered Jack's Mum including Marshals and Police - you made me smile and I tried to acknowledge as many of you as I could. I enjoyed every minute of my marathon experience. If I was to criticise anything it was the slightly chaotic repatriation area. Nothing VLM can do - slightly over excited relatives and friends making it difficult for tired and exhilarated runner to make it to the appropriate tree and alphabet letter. Yippee - Jack's Mum is a marathoner!!!!!!!!!!! Date of review: April 18, 2011

In short: London does it again - a little less sun would be nice though for once! In full: Fantastic race with the most amazing support you can imagine. It seems the organisers have thought about everything with this event - only gripe is that it is hard to get going at the start (I was in pen 1) due to the sheer number of runners. Then again you have to appreciate that this is such a large race with plenty of people wishing to take part so something has to give.
The support is extraordinary - thanks to everyone who turned out.
The weather seemed so much hotter than the 19 degrees forecast. I got to 20miles and could quite easily have walked for a bit but the crowd played their part and got me through to the GFA qualification again - blisters and all!
Thanks again London, the best marathon there is in my eyes - see you next year. Date of review: April 18, 2011
