In short: Ive been to many races but I RAN this one In full: After being a run/walker for many years and never ran continuously for more than 3 miles this race has become my favourite run ever after managing the whole 10K distance without walking. OK I was at the back and I finished 2nd to last (I think) but I really enjoyed it and it was a lot more scenic than I thought it would be. The marshalls were fantastic and very supportive and the organisation was great. Ive had a fab time today and ill be back next year.
In short: Actually think I enjoyed this! In full: A nice flat course with smooth roads / footpaths so easy to negotiate. Clear 1km signs that even I could notice without my glasses on and encouraging support from the marshalls. Date of review: August 20, 2006
In short: Definate PB potential. In full: PB potential race. Course is a little dull and is a little winding around all the roundabouts. Organisation was superb. maybe the start could improved?? but I expect the reason it could not start on the road was because of the championchip mats not being driven over by cars?? In short: Well organised and marshalled, chip timing removed any problems at the finish. In full: Not the most scenic race this one but the organisers can't help that. It's a very well marshalled and well organised race. Chip timing made it much easier at the finish and the fact that I think I was more than 2 mins faster than last time makes me more positive about it! I too noticed the odd motorist trying to assert themselves and another crunching his gearbox no doubt in anger at all these runners interrupting his Sunday morning retail experience. Thanks to everyone concerned in the organisation of this race. Date of review: August 20, 2006
In short: A fairly flat race, good for a pb. In full: Overall a good race, made for pb as there are very few inclines and no hills.
Nice to have championchip so no rush to get over the line.
The only disadvantage is having to run along so many roads that were being used with a few drivers insisting on their right of way (but also many more patiently waiting for a gap) Date of review: August 20, 2006
In short: Overall good race. WIll do again. Sort out the water station though. It was useless. In full: Good race with PB potential. Couple of bumps at 7 and 8k on the bridges crossing the motorway below. Bottleneck at the finish was a problem but I was told it was because somebody had collapsed in the line. Can't blame the organisers for that!! It was blooming hot though. Could a cooler day be arranged next year please!! An earlier start than 10.30 for a race in August might not be a bad idea. Biggest problem was the water station. Wouldn't normally bother with water for a 10k but it was very hot. Picked up a cup off the table and it was empty. Found they were all like that and was then told to hold on while they pour me one! Complete farce!! That needs sorting for next year. Other people were complaining of the same afterwards.
