In full: I really enjoyed this race, although like others it was pretty frustrating having so many walking very early on. I was in white wave B, but saw many others in the wave who should have been in other waves...but a lovely sunny day and great atmosphere. Enjoyed the music over the course. Got there by train, which was a breeze and would suggest all those moaning about the car parking do the same! Date of review: October 26, 2009

In short: potentially a fast flat race with great scenery In full: Despite being in orange wave (c) I had a really slow start there were people walking even before the 5km mark and many other slow runners that were difficult to pass so that was my PB out the window! I am sure i also saw white and green numbers mixed in with the orange people too!
Apart from the starting waves the other organisation was great, i loved the run through shower it was a great relief on a hot day! The free massage and people handing out jelly babies was also great!
The last couple of miles were into strong wind but at least it was sunny and there was a great view!
As for the parking, I parked on the common walked to gunwarf after the race for a meal and by the time I returned the roads were clear!
For such a large event it ran pretty smoothly! Date of review: October 26, 2009

In short: Good atmosphere - Starting waves were a joke and race too big! In full: Brilliant weather this year and great scenery and crowds. I was in the green wave and thought this was wrong - spent the whole race weaving in and out and overtaking walkers!! Getting a decent time was out of the question! Excellent for Help the Heroes to pull a land rover but didn't think they should have been in the middle of the wave blocking the course and shouting at everyone to get out the way - there were lots of other important charities being represented and lots of people running in memory of others. Just read that it's £36 next year - prob won't be doing it if is because there are lots of other good races in the area and ones that only have runners and you don't have the issue of overtaking walkers. If you like smaller races then steer clear of this one - brilliant for charity running. Date of review: October 25, 2009

In short: More wind in more places but at least the sun came out In full: Was it just me or was it more windy throughout town this year than usual?
I love this race! It's super, super fast. Very well supported by the excellent Portsmouth crowds and has plenty of music etc along the way to keep you motivated! Loved the VERY LOUD speaker system blasting out during the (always) windy last 2 miles!
Nice to see that the organisers put the celebs BEHIND the Orange wave a for the first time meaning that the quicker runners could get into their stride from the off.
Parking is fine on the common if you are going to finish sub 70 mins - if not park out of town a little. Date of review: October 25, 2009
