In short: Good friendly race
In full: Did find the heat and the hills a bit of a challenge.....But overall a good event, and one I will be back to next year.......

Only one small comment, did get a little confused at the very end, with the guy on the tower thinking that was the finish only to find it was hidden just around the corner!!!!

In short: an enjoyable day, all the community coming together,
In full: my first time at mansfield, so didnt know the route (which sometimes makes it better for a challenge), and got a pb time as well, feeling it the next day though. was quite hilly to what other marathons i have done before. probably not best for beginners as i saw quite a few people walking and finding it too hard work. first 10 miles ok but then the sun temperature started to rocket and everyone was slowing down, dont really like running in this weather.
overall a good day, very well organised, great spectators, and marshalled very well as well.
8/10

In short: Hilly, Hot, very well organised
In full: I really don't like running at this time of year! Having said that, I really enjoyed the race. There were some very challenging uphill sections. The race was well organised, marshalled and supported. I got a PB too!

In short: Superb organisation, good course, great t-shirt
In full: This is the best organised event I have done. It was a good course, lots of waterstations (I had camelbak with me so just used sponges to wet my head)and the finish was great. I will defo be back next year. Hopefully weather will be a bit cooler.

In short: Did not enjoy this for a variety of reasons stated below.
In full: I struggled at this race - and this is perhaps reflected in my ratings.

The heat was intense to say the least and for me, this turned a potentially very enjoyable race into a nightmare. I've completed six half marathons this year along with a number of 10Ks and have never had to simply top and walk fearing I may collapse.

I think the water stations should have been more frequent because in the weather we experienced there was no way you could replace your fluids with the water stations they had.

I also must say, that whilst I can see this race's popularity as a very challenging summer race, I personally think holding it at this time of year when such heat is likely is irresponsible.

A final whinge was the lack of medal, its not a big issue but when all the Fun Runners - and even some dogs (???) - are wearing medals for their efforts, then it seemed unfair that those who slogged out the half were rewarded with a t-shirt, smartprice crisps and a banana.

In short: heat and hills!!!!!!!!!
In full: Not on top form today so struggled with this one right from the start and the hills and heat dont help - one of my slowest halfs but still under 2 hours which I honnestly didnt think I would do so am reasonably pleased!!

In short: Hot & hilly but worth every minute
In full: This was my first half marathon & I have gotten used to people gasping in horror at my choice for a first attempt. However, although it was hot out there with an awful lot of hills, the race was marshalled well with a good number of drinks stations & there was a good atmosphere, particularly over the last couple of miles when I had to dig deep to get over that finish line.

In short: Couldn't fault the event, just my performance, and Mick 'n' Phil the marathon lads deserve more than just a t-shirt
In full: For various reasons, I ran a poor race but the organisation, marshals, water stations were all excellent except for the first one which I'd run past before I realised it was there. Definitely a challenging race due to the hills being held in the middle of July. Great support from the locals really helped in the last 2 miles.

In short: This is exactly what a half marathon should be !
In full: Organisation faultless (as ever)

That's 5 Mansfield Half's I have done now and continues to be a favourite run.

PLEASE change from t-shirts to some other momento from next year (5 different coloured cotton t-shirts now .....)

Great course

Weather was hot, but better than forecast.

I had a painful, and for me a slow run - but I love this race !
